I don't really see messi coming this season . His family are too settled in Barcelona and there is not enough time. His father is a shit agent and bad advisor.
LOL, the guy flies halfway over the world in his Getstream , goes and has a meeting with the Barca president, bit of dinner, flies home. On the way home probably has a quick word with Khaldoon , saying we will pay him what he wants for the next 5 years, keep in touch.

Yea sh1t agent that dude!!

Messi could have done so much better lol

Tixi and co are poor recruiting defenders since the time of Barcelona.
Careful mate, I had the audacity to describe Txiki's record of recruiting defenders as a mixed bag, and Manicmanc accused me of being a Rag. We're not allowed to question Pep or Txiki, even on a forum.

I think their issues recruiting defenders at Barcelona is massively overblown.

Txiki's record at Barcelona is this -

Rafa Marquez €5m - Excellent signing.
Gio van Bronkhurst €2m - Excellent signing.

Juliano Beletti - €3m - Decent signing, scored a CL final winning goal.
Sylvinho - €2m - Very good 3rd choice player, won loads.

Zambrotta €14m - Didn't live up to the hype but was sold for €11m after 2 seasons.
Thuram €5m - Maybe overpaid a bit for a 32 year old back up player, but he was a big name and pretty good.

Abidal €15m - Excellent signing, especially after Pep worked some magic on him.
Gabriel Milito €20m - Had a horriffic 2 year long injury just after signing. Can't blame Txiki.

[Pep joins here]

Gerard Pique €5m - Hard to imagine a better CB signing given the price and all he achieved.
Martin Caceres €16m - This was a bad one.
Dani Alves €35m - In Pep's opinion the best RB of all time, one of the most important players in Barca's greatest side.
Henrique €8m - Youth prospect signing that didn't work out.

Maxwell €4m - Good back up to Abidal, sold on for the same price at 32 after 3 good years.
Chygrynskiy €25m - The infamously bad one.

Mascherano €19m - Excellent signing, was CB for several CL wins and 4 or 5 league titles.
Adriano €10m - Good signing, very capable backup during his time at Barca.

Pep carried on with one more before he left in 2012 -

Jordi Alba - €19m - Excellent signing.

The majority of the signings were *very* good ones, with a couple of speculative ones the didn't pan out, and 1 or 2 bad ones. I think the fact Barcelona didn't need to sign a first choice defender after Txiki left until 2016 shows he left them in really good shape with Pique, Puyol, Mascherano.

His signings were considerably better than any of this current Barca regime have made!

Given the inflated market over recent years, that list isnt half as bad as people would have you believe.

Demichelis was a good signing for £4.5m
Sagna was a good back up and cost 0
Mangala was a disaster we all know that.
Otamendi was pretty good.
Stones started well but disappointed and injuries have ruined his last 2 seasons.
Walker has been very good.
Danilo was a good backup and got sold for a profit.
Mendy - Txiki can't account for 3 years of injuries.
Laporte - Very good.
Garcia - Very good.
Sandler - speuclative youth signing who'll be sold on for a profit.
Angelino - about to be sold for 3x what we paid for him 12 months ago.
Cencelo - Not impressed so far but time will tell.
Aké - Not sure why he's even on the list yet.

Part of the problem with people who like to slate Begiristain is the inability to accept not all signings are supposed to be first choice starters for a decade. Sagna was a good signing. Richards decided to leave, we needed a back up, Sagna on a free was good business. Demichelis was perfectly fine as a 3rd choice, Danilo was a good back up sold for a profit.

Really, only 1 of those defenders was an unmitigated bad signing.
