It’s a bit depressing to see Chelsea signing Havertz and Werner, Spurs On brink with Bale, likewise dippers Thiago and we signed Ake and Torres who we can talk up as much as we want but we’ve lost Silva and Sane, and Dinho is effectively gone at least as first choice in his position. Worryingly we start the season in 4 days and have no right sided cb possibly 1 fit cf and no lb that I’d be confident will do the job properly.

Chelsea needed a rebuild after the ban.

Spurs well they are spurs so no need to worry.

Liverpool have added a good player, they will be hard to stop.

Ars and scum maybe outside bets at min.

Everyone is better than us, we are shit, can’t defend, club is shit, round and round and round we go. Lucky to stay up at this rate.

The reason these clubs are investing is because they are miles behind us and the scousers. We had cleaned up domestically until the cheating scousers arrived with their inhalers.

We will buy before the window shuts and go again. FFP is causing us to have a pragmatic approach.

Torres would've been a £80m+ player if Valencia's owner wasn't dead set on destroying the club. People massively overlooking him purely because of the price tag.

Teams have obviously been hit very hard by covid and we along with a few others are a select few who have managed to come through largely unscathed.

Clubs will want as much money instantly (forget bonuses) as they can possibly get, especially now. Managers will want replacements but a chairmans number one priority (sometimes) is to get through the season so im not surprised deals are dragging on.

If we start the season with what we have then it is what it is but we will definitely have more incoming(s) by the end of the window.

Is it though?

What were our actual problems last year? We lost Laporte for 6 months, we lacked pace in the backline, we ran Sterling and others into the ground because we lacked a forward, David Silva couldn't run which killed the press and made our midfield easy to bypass so we reverted to Gundogan in midfield.

The solution to all these problems exists in the current squad. Phil Foden or Bernardo can replace David Silva and bring back the aggressive press at the back. That makes Rodri 10x more effective, Aké means we'll never be without a good CB with pace, even if Laporte gets crocked and he shores up LB and offers a pacier DM option too.

Ferran replaces Sané and gives us the option to rest Sterling which keeps him in better form and frees up Foden/Bernardo to go back to midfield.

Even with laporte though we ran into a lot of issues at RCB. It has to be addressed this window. This is one of those positions I'm happy to see us get slugged on. Whether it be Kounde or Koulibaly. It's a huge hole with Otamendi out, fernandinho 35, Stones form and injury record gone and Garcia on his way out.

Thiago will improve them in the buildup from non-existent to somewhat threatening. However, he is also unlikely to put in the defensive work of somebody like Wijnaldum. No question that it makes them stronger, but probably not by as much as some will believe. Given our very obvious and unaddressed weaknesses, we'll not be challenging for the title anyway...

This is just the ultimate in "new toy syndrome".

Look at our squad FFS.

Sergio Aguero - best striker in PL history.
Raheem Sterling - POTY nominee, YPOTY winner.
Bernardo Silva - POTY nominee.
Riyad Mahrez - POTY winner.
KDB - POTY winner, best midfielder in the world.
Phil Foden - Best English prospect in 20 years.
Ferran Torres - Spains best player in his age group, one of their biggest prospects

The reason those pricks are signing Havertz and Ziyech and Werner is because we're fucking miles ahead of them. Bale?! £13m in wages for a bloke who was behind a 17 year old Brazilian on merit last season for Madrid when he was fit.

Honestly the ability for people on this forum to downplay City's players is beyond belief. We have the best squad in the country. We had it before last season, and we have it now.

There was always going to be a comedown from 198 points in 2 seasons. The answer isn't just to buy players, it's to re-energise and motivate the ones we already have. No one has signed a better player this summer than Bernardo Silva in 18/19 form. No one has signed a more exciting youth prospect than Phil Foden.

Don't mistake a dip in form after the 2 best seasons in English football history back to back for players not being good enough.
