Barcelona officials are claiming that he does not have the right to move. All we can say is that this is contentious. City will need to be absolutely sure of our legal position because the consequences of losing a legal battle are very significant (according to SSN).

I don't think Barca would want to go up against Messi so if Messi wants to go then the most likely result would be a sweetener to Barcelona?
Webster rule means he can buy out last year of contract
If you do that personally I think it’s poor form, but if that’s the position he is forced into then he can threaten or even just do it
I think they need to get heads out of the sand

Pep wants him on a plane next week!!!!

This could get very ugly in the next 48 hours.

The contact in Abu Dhabi says he is ours.

Absolutely zero reason to doubt him either.

Bloody hell. I'm gonna stop posting tonight or I won't get any sleep.

Sounds like more encouraging movement on Koulibaly too.

You must have had more likes in the last 24 hours than most have had since likes began haha. Keep up the great work, mate.

I will have a look at that. Thanks

That carcrash sawitall on snn is a joke, “ our sources say city have a chance so do inter, PSG, don’t rule out Stretford and it’s possible he might stay. Our experts believe Chelsea and Leeds are also monitoring and Miami is an option.” Whatever the outcome carcrash said it first

I think their main journalists don't but they interview experts from time to time. The guy they interviewed about the transfer dispute process seemed reliable. He wasn't offering an opinion on Messi's contract but explained the dispute process which ultimately could end up at CAS...if Barca have a case.
He and nobody at sky have a clue what's in Messi's contract, so it's nothing but speculation.

I will speculate, Messi's contract may state that he has x number of days after barcelona's last competitive fixture to request a free transfer.

Before covid that date was June 10th, after Covid it's August 31st. Barcelona don't have a leg to stand on.

Speculation can be spun either way.

Yep, that last sentence 100%. Just in knee-jerk mode at the moment aren’t they?

Barca don’t think so, despite agreeing to it in his contract

Yep, so under those doubtful circumstances, I’d have thought they need to be really careful about playing hardball on any deal, lest they risk ending up with nothing. I’d reckon after a couple more days, and the penny dropping, doing a deal with them won’t be that difficult at all.
