You talk like 10m is nothing. That 10m saved will go towards other fees like his wages or other transfers. Let the experts deal with it. If it takes till the window closes, so be it

Doubt it will go till the end of the window though. For us, Koulibaly could be the final transfer of the window so for our part it wouldn’t matter, but Napoli have several targets they need to conclude after selling Koulibaly, so they don’t have time to wait much longer.

As the dick ADL is, just watch as he/Napoli announces Koulibaly is extending his stay without talking to us first, because he got fed-up of us not upping our offer.

Haha, so Messi working to get out by making Suarez stay... He isn't in today's squad

Barcelona want to get rid of Suarez, but they can't afford to buy out his contract which is worth between €20-24m depending on the source.

So they can't sell him, because he's a 33 year old with 9 months on his contract of £450k/week. Can't buy anyone to replace him and push him out because they don't have the money unless he goes, and they've treated him like shit (Koeman told him he was not wanted anymore in a 1 minute phonecall) so he's not in any mood to do them a favour by leaving money on the table.

He's absolutely got them by the balls.

Several ITKs here, if remember correctly, said the club would announce Peps extension but something came in between.

Once the transfer window is done, I think the club will announce Pep extending. He loves it here and said that several times, and he has a sick squad at his disposal. Why would he go to, say Juventus and start over, in an even worse league?

A sick squad

Should have been around when Santa Cruz was here

Sergio- we have been dealing with his injuries for years so nothing new on that front.

Off topic, I know, but I was thinking about this the other day. Am I right in thinking that in 2011-12 he didn't miss a single match through injury? (That's certainly my impression, but it's a bit hazy). And am I also right in thinking that in virtually every other season since then, he has spent considerable periods (i.e. four-eight weeks) out in every one of them? It really does make you think — because how many goals would he have scored without that injury record?

As I said previously the points mentioned are valid.

I don't see the squad issues myself - we have bought a winger and a centre back.

An additional CB would be welcome but it will not be the end of the world if we do not get KK or another.

Last year the team missed too many chances and conceded silly goals due to defensive errors.

Score more goals and concede less- simpiles.

I trust the team to improve this year with or without any new personal.

The missing chances issue predates Pep! Hopefully we are more clinical this season. Ferran looks like a decent acquisition but may take a while settling in.

I think where we finish next season will depend on whether we can get some consistency together. Our longest winning run was 5 matches (the last five).

Looking back over the season we were generally very good against the bottom half but pretty poor against the top six. The margins are finer against the better sides so missed chances and defensive errors matter more. We lost that edge last season. Perhaps it was loss of Kompany, perhaps Rodri settling in, Bernardo’s poor form or the loss of Sané’s X factor. Whatever it was, we will need to remedy it from the start. Wolves are exactly the type of team we struggled to beat last year.

10m is literally nothing if it's the difference between winning the league and not. I don't understand the logic of people saying if it takes all window, so be it. We've won 3 league titles by less than 3 points, how is it acceptable to go into a new season against an opposition we've lost twice to with virtually an unchanged starting 11? This is potentially Kun Aguero's last season, Pep Guardiola's and we are potentially throwing away the league. We lost 9 games last season, more than any PL winner in history, lost to an 8th placed Lyon side in the CL, we knew what we needed for months and this is embarrassing.

He would go if his players no longer responded, we will find out in the coming weeks.

I know but I can’t imagine we’re there already. Most of our players still look up to him as one of the best in the world, that’s the impression I get when reading what the players say.

Yesterday he was making an argument as to why we should take a hard line and not raise our offer.

I know, I can’t really decide. It’s impossible to figure out how Napoli is dealing with this. If they won’t move an inch away from 75m, I think the club is just waiting. Napoli has probably set a deadline day for this transfer and there will probably be a call from Koulibalys agent ”75m, take it or he’s off the market by tomorrow”. In that case I think we will pay.

If our pre-deadline day fixtures were WBA, WHU and Fulham I'd agree but we have Wolves, Leicester and Leeds (all 3 good on the break)
Given the last 3 titles have been won with 100, 98 and 99 points I'd rather pay the extra

I got the sense at the end of last season some players were starting to wonder about tactics etc.

The Lyon game was a major issue, let's see the response in the weeks ahead.

I was expecting the club to make significant changes to the squad this summer, to freshen things up and for Pep to have new players to work with. At this moment that does not look to be happening.

Is it down to finance (covid) or other factors, maybe uncertainty about Pep's future beyond this season?

Sergio without injuries? You could potentially be talking about the greatest ever goal scorer to grace the league. I am not sure exactly how long he was injured for each season. The weeks you have mentioned do sound reasonable tho.

Because if Suarez leaves, Barcelona get €20m off the wage bill and can afford to keep Messi's wages and buy new players.

If Suarez stays they are financially fucked, can't buy anyone new and might succumb to a bid for Messi to sort everything out.

The evil midget strikes again. So manipulative and scheeming, that Messi fella.

Natives are getting a bit restless it seems.
I’m sure we will be good to go on Monday, we are a half decent side on our day...

It's easy to forget that despite the flaws, with Laporte fit and another winger to stop Sterling being run into the ground we would have been up past 90 points anyway.

Christ, just having Foden in his post lockdown form from the beginning of the season would have made a huge difference.

7 clean sheets in our 10 PL games post lockdown. Currently on a 5 game winning streak.

I'm convinced more business will be done, but I also believe the reason it's slow is because the major problems have already been addressed.
