Just guessing that Messi hoped Barce would agree to letting him leave amicably, now that they haven’t, and the legal position was probably never going to be straightforward, then I assume he is not keen for a fight, with the club he loves. I can understand that. Assuming this is what pans out

So my take on it is camp Messi asked to leave amicably and with city paying a fee, Barca said no, so camp Messi said ok I’ll leave for free next season rather than go to court. That’s why Messi snr says yes when asked about the possibility that he stays. Of course there’s a possibility he stays. That doesn’t mean it’s all off and Messi has changed his mind. I recon there’ll be another week of he’s coming/he’s staying
