So how would letting him go for free have helped, other than the lower wage bill which would be covered by the commercial benefits.
The only way it's better for Barca is if they get a fee and if they do, the president can claim a victory as he stopped Messi shafting them by walking away for free
Because everyone seems to think he's a commercial gold mine, so they must make more than a million a week from having him. If that's not the case, why did we want a 33 year old player? They are paying 1m pw for a player who doesn't want to be there & is 33 years old, at s time they need to rebuild the team, under a new manager.
On what planet is that anything other than stupid ?
You would think we should do the same if the situation was reversed ?
Does the actual football team not matter at all ?
I assume to back up Messi saying in the interview that he wants to leave but the board have gone back on their promise and now won't let him without legal proceedings.Still confused at why his Dad put that statement out questioning the validity of the buy out clause only a few hours earlier than the interview.

when Pep is asked about all this Messi saga he will just say he is really happy for him staying in Barca for life and he belongs there.

Once he is back in trainings with Barca it is over...
Some people need to get a grip.
Look at his statement
1. He clearly wants to leave - he has stated that. - We all know its us he wants to come to - there is no other team he wants - look at his use of the word project - that says city all over it.
2 He has absolutely destroyed the ownership of Barca - when has any other player ever come out and taken such a blatant swing at a club chairman and board before
3. He has said he has been unhappy for a while - in his football, in the dressing room, at training - this wont sit well with his team mates.
4. His best friend (Suarez) is being sold
We as club havent done anything but support him - he will know this.
Id expect city to put a bid in for him...now this is where it gets interesting - Remember Barca have publically stated they want Garcia - there is no way we will sell Garcia to them if they refuse to even negotiate for Messi - and which is worse..having the best player in the world and your club capt/legend unhappy or a 21 year old squad player? We can let Garcia sit in the stands for a year (we already have Ake and will get another centre half) - we risk losing 15m tops by letting him go on a free - Barca risk losing 80-100m plus for Messi - and they are in a financial mess - we aren so who is more desperate for the money?
If we put in a bid now the pressure on the board to sell will be from all angles; players, some of the fans (reluctantly) and Messi himself as well as the financil pressure - they need to rebuild- they want Garcia they wont get him without doing business with us - there could even be pressure added from that angle.
Worst comes to the worst - he doest go anywhere, signs a pre-agreement with us in January and we get him for free - even for a year minimum thats worth it -the only thing that would stop that is a bad injury to him
Probably because he said I'm staying, and no club could afford the buyout clause. Anyone believing Bartomeau would accept anything other than a huge bid is being a bit deluded. So Messi and his dad have called out la Liga and Barca in one day and people think it’s over?!
Will he now stop getting the protection afforded to usual Barça players by referees ?Some people need to get a grip.
