Apart from the fact this supposedly obsession with being Barcelona lite hasn't hindered us over the last 8 years, it's actually seen us become the most successful team in the league.
There's valid points raised of course and understandable frustration going into the new season due to how last year ended and the lack of signings so far to rectify a problem position

It is difficult to understand. We have an achilles heel. KK would fix that. But there is little evidence we are close to buying him.

We have a few days now to see if we are serious about winning the league next season and addressing what became a really big issue last season. it's the right sided defensive position (Garcia.Stones) that's the problem not the left, so I don't see Ake as a fix.

Last Summer the discussion was over Maguire. Was he good enough to plug the Kompany hole? We decided not. We still haven't filled the hole but there's no doubt in my mind that KK is good enough.

Given the time I now have genuine concern that we are serious about signing a 2nd central defender.

It might just be that they believe/know that Napoli will crack and sell eventually. There's no one else in for KK and privately he has told Napoli that City is the club he wants to join.

I hope so but an awful lot rests on us doing this deal. Seems very high risk to leave it for very little benefit.

Yes, but its going to be a very long season, that nobody is fully prepared for, whether we sort the cb out before or after Wolves will have very little bearing on the season. Have no doubt we will get somebody though.

Some good and justified points.I get were you are coming from when you highlight the Barcelona obsession however we have followed that path and it has been very successful.

This is the identity of the club now. We will buy players to suit the roles needed within peps system. This will include a dm of either gundo or Rodri similar to Busquets as you have pointed out.

Going into the season we have nothing to fear re wolves and Leicester. The team is good enough to beat both.

The new opinion is that football has moved on from Pep’s system. Bayern and Liverpool are often used as an example.

The players need to get back to winning matches. Simple passes made, cut out silly mistakes, pass out from the back accurately and press from the front.

Buying a shiny new player is only half the battle. We have bought some very sought after talent but some have just not worked out for a lot of reasons.

I agree in part with both.

What I find really frustrating with the present City & Pep, is that we have a kind of arrogance with personnel.

It's like 'proper' defending & general athleticism is for lesser mortals. We have our super brilliant enlightened way of doing things which means we can play midfielders in defence & strollers in def mid & 'look we got 100 points so it's right'.

No, we got 100 points IN SPITE of it.

If we'd fixed those weaknesses, we'd maybe have another 100 points last season & maybe a few Champions Leagues.

The antidote to Pep's football, is better defending, workrate, pace, counter attacking. The challenge from Liverpool & Bayern is basically higher intensity & more variety of goals etc. In Liverpool's case corners etc in particular.

Pep can still run rings round all of them.

Anything they can do, Pep can do at City, without having to change his style at all, just add more variety in the final 3rd & fitter, quicker, specialist personnel, in a few positions.

It does my head in, that he doesn't seem to be arsed about doing it, so if we win through, we will do it with a handicap, again, rather than with a team with square pegs in square holes.

I work in real estate and I can safely say after 35 years in that industry on and off there is far more BS than truth spoken.

In saying that the line of thought that if you disagree with someones opinion they are necessarily speaking with a forked tongue has little merit.

Where opinion is treated as fact and or differing from an accurate historical account of events then despite further disagreement no doubt from some quarters again debate has little merit.

You're right, apologies to all. I am not feeling particularly great. I did a Covid test on Monday and still no result, so have a lot on my plate at home with my wife being a teacher and my kids' first week back at school.

I'm also still trying to earn money to keep my business afloat and sometimes I just don't have the time or means to come back to the board and answer questions directly.
