I find it really hard to believe that we could be close to getting Messi to sign and there isn't a single semi reputable source saying there's a chance

Normally I would agree.

Given that all this has possibly all already been played out last summer, and the fact he is in the middlenof a tournament, I can half see why there can be silence.

There was a circus last year. We as a club managed to stay out of it. But i'm sure messi and family don't want that again, Barcelona certainly don't want it again. And we never really want it. So who would leak anything, and why? Last year, barca leaked loads, then messi camp leaked in response via their contacts, and the whole thing was public. I can't see anyone wanting that now. It is so much easier for everyone to deflect questions as well. Laporta can say he's focused on the club economics, Messi on the tournament, and we have no need to comment.

Say what you want about Ramos, yes he is a hateful cnut at times, but he has won absolutely everything in the game and been a key player in all of those teams. It could be viewed that this mentality and experience could put us over the top in the CL stakes.

Ifs different with a free agent signing. Theres probably only a handful of people in the world who know what Messi wants to do and they're his closest friends and family so not leakers.

After the way he was treated by Barca I'd be letting my contract run to the last day of pay then tell them to go fuck themselves ...

Nice little signing on fee from his new team and masses of exposure.
