Yeah we needed full backs and centre backs but the club think having 10-12 players who cost £60 million is ok but having one who costs £100 million isn’t

Do they ? I think the club think spending the budget on a bigger balanced squad is better to win the league than a thinner or more unbalanced squad with the budget spent on one player.
Just check, 3 leagues in 4 years 5 in 10 how many top 2 finishes. Yes turns out the club were right who’d have thought.

I'm sure those on top would prefer paying a signing-on-fee of lets say 10m, and then have the salary be in the same range as the rest of the squad.

I think the issue here is wage structure.
Theres a fine line between one individual earning double or triple then two players earning the same total amount combined .

You said the club wouldn’t do it. If you mean people say the club wouldn’t then they they do. People say a lot of things though and for the right player at the right time if we can afford it then I don’t think the club would hesitate spending big.
Only they know if the right player is available and affordable though, we’re only guessing.

Does not matter still costs the same and the post was in response to my post about not doing swaps for Messi because he is a feee agent the poster was adding even less reason to do it because of his wages signing on fee the same point applies
