To be fair we as supporters are heavily biased for the Haaland transfer to happen (especially with Aguero leaving). And I am not doubting he is interested in joining us and we are an attractive prospect. But from Dortmund's perspective Haaland is still their player and just like Jadon Sancho last season they will come to temporary solution for him to stay. They did it with Lewandowski despite getting nothing for the player. The release clause will not bother them that much (even the current Covid financial climate) Sancho is one will be the one to make way this time around. If they fail to qualify for the Champions League they will probably consider moving him on this summer. If you are supremely confident if this will happen straight away then fair play to you on that, but I don't see this as cut and dried and I am sticking by it.

Agreed - our biggest threat to signing Haaland this summer is not Madrid or Chelsea or Bayern - it’s him staying at Dortmund.

I don’t for a second believe he isn’t for sale - as suggested by all the hot air coming out of the Club at the moment. Of course he’s for sale - that’s Dortmund’s entire business model!

But I do believe they’ll set their price and stick to it. And our track record in open negotiation situations like this is we walk away of the Club isn’t for budging.

They know they’ll get the release clause next summer, so any deal will have to be significantly over that to make it worthwhile.

Ray, you have a habit of posting one thing then taking the next ten minutes editing that one post to death multiple times, so if one has read it and replied to it, it might look like crazy talk to anyone reading it an hour later. So God knows what it will look a minute from now
You are comparing apples and oranges with the Lewandowski situation. And you haven’t been listening to what Watzke is really saying underneath the surface.
City will let journalists know if we ever pull out of this transfer this summer. They don’t like being used in the media or for bargains with others. It hasn’t happened yet, in fact, the signs point in the other direction. Meanwhile, all the other clubs are putting themselves at a distance. Think about it.

Completely agree. I think getting Haaland will be a very difficult ask, and don’t see Dortmund and City reaching agreement this summer. Also don’t see us breaking our recent transfer model to shell out over 100m on a player. I know it’s a deal for potentially 10+ years, but I think the club has pride in the fact it hasn’t actually distorted the market... that reputation is firmly deserved by the red halves of Manchester and Merseyside.

Ings has been mooted and I’m not sure how much to read into that, but I see that sort of transfer as more likely for now. Obviously Haaland would be the dream, but look at the impact Jota has had on Liverpool. Just need someone who can stick it in the net

I think that's right but no way should any club be going north of a 50 per cent premium on next years release clause - talk of 150m is ridiculous.

well they get Sancho that will be an upgrade on there squad

Even at a more realistic price I think Sancho takes most if not all of United's transfer budget for the summer... they are eating through their cash flow and have limited ability to borrow more.
