Top shout on the Sheringham to the rags - remember that vividly.

I think the beauty of this season is that literally we've shown that the system can be built to not even use a 9. So next season someone like Kane will be able to rotate in and out as needed without feeling like he's being run into the ground or has to play every game.
Exactly. A deadly finisher is just another option, another arrow in the quiver. It doesn’t mean that we would be playing with an out and out centre forward in every game or that the false 9 is being abandoned altogether. But it gives Pep even more choices and options from game to game and even during matches. And we know that if there’s one thing he loves it’s having multiple options. Not a chance he reduces his options and snookers himself by being limited to a single style of play, especially when all the cards are falling perfectly this summer to replace Sergio with a world class striker.

Yep 100% but I don’t think he is a realistic option. Seems to have his heart set on Spain.
I think the sight of ground staff brushing piles of ice off the Etihad pitch in May was the final killer for that dream :)

Does Paris have much better weather than the UK?

I'm no expert and not meaning to be contrary in any way.

I'd love Kane just something about losing out on the potential of Haaland leaves me with a bitter taste in my mouth. But at least is never have to worry about a penalty again lol

Speaking of Kane. Michael Calvin, Dom Ffifield, and Miggles Delaney on the football writers pod yesterday said that they believe that he's moving to City this summer. Obviously caveated with "if city can agree a fee with Spurs" but it's out there that he's coming to City.

100 to 120 million is the price from what iv seen spurs acounts tweet, Levy wants somewhere in between those two numbers.

I keep coming back to this decision to let Sergio leave in March.

I don't believe they would do that unless they had someone lined up in principle agreement with the player, agent and club. You wouldn't make that decision that early unless you knew almost for certain someone was coming in.

I can see them doing it if Messi's camp gave them a nudge nudge. I can see Dortmund privately saying he's there for £Xm before the buyout clause comes in next summer.

I don't see Kane and Levy agreeing something that early.

Haaland is the one they've had some sort of assurance from. You're spot on about Aguero too, that decision didn't happen in a vacuum and it's widely reported that he was told directly by Pep that City would bring in a top line 9 this summer.

I wouldn't totally rule Kane out though. There's too much noise around it and around him for there to be no destination for him. My gut would be that City told his people that he needs to soften Levy up if he wants it to happen hence the the big Athletic brief and other subsequent pieces regarding his unhappiness and desire to move.

Personally I think that we'll know what the lay of the land is with Haaland soon as top 4 is decided in Germany, and I expect that at that point we'll open formal negotiations for one of the two players.

If we for some reason couldn`t get Haaland, I would love this. A couple of years with Lewandowski and Delap could slowly be integrated, maybe spend a season on loan. Still the best striker in the world by a mile. 51 goal contributions in 37 games this season for him

It seems lewa is looking for a improved contract at bayern.
