It's Quiet Thread 15 - Txiki Blinders

We wouldn’t miss Bernardo, yet Saul would improve us. If both players want out of their respective clubs, and said clubs benefit from both deals, it’s a transfer I’d be more than happy with.

What type of player is Saul? I know he plays in midfield.

He's a really good box to box midfielder or 8 that Simeone has been abusing by playing him LB, CB and wherever Atletico have a gap.

He's a very good dribbler in midfield, he's technically very good, a goal threat if you play him high up the pitch. Doesn't really spray passes around but he will be solid in possession.

He has been linked to moving away from Atletico for a few years because he fell out with Simeone for being too defensive and sticking him at LB for a season when he was just making his breakthrough as a top level midfielder.

He could play instead of Rodri or Gundogan, but he also played well next to Rodri as a midfield 2 in a 4231.

Did Castles say he wanted to leave before last summer? Does that mean that racism incident broke him?

And has Saul been in good form?

Would not mind if all these rumours about players were leaving would be all about Chelsea and Liverpool.
I think there will be 1-2 players shock departures for us this summer and not the ones who would have been expected to leave like Sterling who will probably get a wage rise for his shit season.

Also not much money in the market, Txiki needs to make sure we will not be shafted with these low value/player exchange deals. Strange enough when we are about to bid for players the fee is still sky high despite the market...

Mahrez is the one I would be looking to move on, he has had a good season imo time to cash in as he might not have another great season like this and will be 31 soon.
Gundogan very useful and intelligent player but needs to be used further upfront rather than deep.

Bernardo would be a big loss, very good player and hard working one, Pep did not really look to unlock his creative potential tho as we did not need that, could be one of the reasons he might looking to move on.

Laporte another one would be hard to replace with same quality for the sell price we get for him.

We need a shake up in the squad after winning the league, it might be a bigger shake up than expected/needed.

The thing is, we as fans might want Bernardo to stay but if he wants to leave and tells the club that then it makes sense to let him go. Same with Laporte.

What I don’t get, though, is that if we do want Kane and Grealish then it’ll be £200+m to get them. Doing swap deals where we get no cash for our players doesn’t really help with the budget. Presuming there is one...

I feel him along with Laporte will probably leave. Too much noise re both players wanting to move. Not that surprised in regards to Bernardo as he has said before he dreams of playing in la Liga. Don’t know enough about saul to know if the swap makes sense mind

Saúl is quality. Him and Koke are the heartbeat of that Madrid team. Can play central and defensive midfielder. Not as technical as Silva but his work rate is fantastic. Think he leads the way in La Liga for distance covered per game. Not afraid to get stuck in as well. Think of Dino/Gundogan hybrid and your not too far away

An overrated one, certainly has the talent, but not someone to have lived up to the levels of hype, more inflicted because he signed a ridiculous ten-year, £750m buyout clause at the time.

As Dom also posted, he has a strange relationship to Simeone.

United have wanted him for ages.

Not sure that is a good thing, going off their previous midfield profiling.

I don't think he's quite good enough to justify a Bernado loss.

Not saying he comes to us at all, but you honestly think he isn’t ambitious to win trophies and play CL? Might stay another year but can’t see any longer than that.
As far as I see it he’s smitten with city. It’s a catch twenty two with contracts and all that. Same with Kane. Love a player calling out, but what are you gonna do? Feel like he’d be an incredible signing.

we have a load of fringe players and loan players that will be getting sold as well mate?

Newcastle have been in touch very recently asking about our players.

It sounds like there might be a new sheriff in town very soon?

And this one has an even bigger gun than ours!

Ironically, none of our current crop of players strike me as mercenaries so why would they take a step down to Newcastle? Interesting one.

so IF the Bernardo/Saul thing is true then Bernardo out and Saul & Grealish in?

Ya Bernie wanting to leave is surprising given he played well and had good playing time, but apparently his desire to leave is true, as castles is close to his agent and Sam Lee confirmed it as well
