It's Quiet Thread 15 - Txiki Blinders

The stupid business, in case it wasn’t clear the first, second or third time, is the straight swap. If money is involved, LIKE I SAID IN THE POST YOU QUOTED, it COULD be a different story.

Also, sorry, but I have a brain of my own. Pep can like a player and I can still have an opinion about said player based on my observations. For instance, let’s hypothetically pretend those Sergi Roberto stories were true— do I have to suddenly ignore everything my eye has seen because “Pep rates him”?
I would suggest reserving judgement until Pep actually gets his hands on "said" player.

City have rarely got transfers wrong under Pep, whether you like them or not.

Imagine judging a player by stats only. A midfielder to boot as well. I guess Penandes is a better player than KDB he has better stats
Do you have a brain, BlueBrain? I was replying a thread pointing out Bernardo’s stats by asking for the poster to check out Saul’s stats. I don’t judge Saul on stats alone because I have watched him a lot. But even the distant follower of Spanish football, having seen him vs Chelsea two times last season, would understand

Its not stupid business. Saul is quality. Can play in multiple positions, Technically gifted and has a tremendous work rate. I'd be gutted if Bernardo leaves but i'd rather have a player who wants to play for us rather than some who is going to sulk for a season if he doesn't get a move

The way he's handles Bernardo has been rather poor. But I love Pep, it's impossible to get everything right. And Per doesn't.

Not really realistic though is it?

Hi guys, our player really wants out, we bought him for £45m, he's worth more now....can we have that kid you spent £120m on?

You make a valid point re respective transfer fees but Bernardo was a bargain who’s just got better… Felix was overpriced and has somewhat lost his way - you could argue they are both circa £80m players but I’m sure AM will struggle with that… but there’s an element of truth that their respective values are similar. In any swap City would be the ones taking a risk….

No one has said a straight swap.

You are just inventing a scenario and then getting angry about it.

And yeah, sure, have your own opinion but don't pretend like it fucking matters. The only thing that matters is if Pep likes a player and he's got very few wrong in 5 years at the club.

If Pep deciding he wants a player isnt enough for a City fan to be OK with it at this point, you're a child, more concerned with stats and reputations than the thing that matters - Guardiola thinking they will improve the team.
The story that came out says Atletico values Saul at €70M. That’s what I have to work with.

“ have your own opinion but don't pretend like it fucking matters” let’s close the forum, then. What’s the point if not to share our opinions. And unless we are involved in the decision making, none of our opinions “matter”, except they do, because we care about the good of the club.

Also, who the fuck do you think you are to call me a child and say I “care about reputations” or reduce my concerns to stats? Get lost

I can’t help but think that there’s going to be a few players eyeing the exit door who’ll end up disappointed. The two most heavily linked with moves are Laporte and Bernardo, both are going to be very expensive in a depressed market. None of the big 3 clubs in Spain are cash rich. Same story with Sterling, not many clubs he’d go to can afford him.

Pep has spoken many times about players under Simeone; he likes what Simeone does to players. This is a fetish we all have here: “oh, if only Pep could work with X player...” Sure, it could become a revelation. But we’re talking about the deal here

Saul plays as a pivot now, he’s more defensive than attacking, aggressive in a tackle and wins the ball back a lot. But I don’t understand swapping a attacking player in Bernardo for a defensive one in Saul
Wasn't there news that we might want a DM? And we want Geralish + Kane, don't we?.

Not playing in his best position, it's actually quite simple isn't it?

No its not simple because its bullshit.

He played wide right for Monaco, said he likes playing wide right and he played a lot of wide right for City. When KDB was injured he got to play in midfield.

He wasnt handled poorly, hes just not good enough to play ahead of KDB.

Pep went out of his way to find him a role on the pitch this season, he went to bat for him in public after the Conguitos thing and he said he would never want to sell him.

Pep couldn't have done much more for Bernardo.

I think you'd have to be willfully stupid to really thing a player not good enough to start every game in his favourite position is "being handled badly" but it's the same shit we heard when Sané wanted to leave.

True enough.

He was swallowed whole by Chelsea in those games.

He doesn't look half the player he was maybe three years ago.

Maybe I'm mixing him up with Koke, another player who also has a rep better than his talents?

Partey was always the guy in midfield who caught my eye, rather than the other two and Rodri.

Partey has hardly ripped it up at Arsenal when fit.

So you're inventing nonsense and getting upset when people point it out.
