Im not one to usually post transfer rumours but due to my job i do get talking to a lot of people in different countries. One such person in Brazil is convinced that Gabriel Barbosa (Flamengo) is being touted around the Premier League so wonder if there are legs in that? Only seen him for Brazil and looks like he bombed at Inter.

Could be nothing in it but thought i would share.

I have to say I'm now at a stage I'd rather see us show a bit of nerve and sit out the last two days and go into the season with what we have. Rather than going for a some obscure down the list option.

Obviously if the club can pull a laye deal off for the likes of Nuno Mendes, or another long term target like Morriba, great. But to pay big on deadline day for a late attempt at someone that will make do, I'd rather see us sit tight and get it right next window or summer.

Not sure how we sign him either when he would have to isolate for 10 days and we have 2 left.

He does the medical and signs the contract in Brazil.

Not saying it will happen , or is even an option (never really heard much about him so doubt it), but is very simple to traverse covid restrictions if it's a deal that has to get done. Ronaldo is signing for the rags without being anywhere near England

The talent is there, however he failed miserably in not just Inter but Benfica as well. Didn't settle in Europe at all. Would be an exciting experiment but feel like he is more in the vein of someone Big Sam would take a chance on anno 2004 at Bolton and he would be largely average

Txiki has two days to surprise everyone with a signing. Can the club negotiate quietly or does everything have to be done in the open while inviting other parties to interfere? Can we pull what Villa did by shocking with the Ings announcement or when no one knew the rags were in contact with Ronaldo until minutes before they announced him? You have ITKs saying something might be in the works and others saying business is done. We will see. We won’t be able to correct all the imbalance of the squad in two days but it’s possible to do something still. I have some faith that the club can shock us. If nothing happens, though, it will be my job as a fan to continue rooting. September won’t be easy. Have a great week, everyone! Two more days...

I don’t think we need a Messi or Ronaldo for that matter (in their prime, oh yeah) or the likes of a
Sancho or anyone else who runs fast into space beyond the back line. We don’t generally play a counter attack game

What we need is a guy who arrives in the right spot at the right time around the six yard area.
A fox in the box.
A tap in merchant.
A Gert Muller.
A Gary Lineker.
A big Lewendoski type or Haaland would be nice but ultimately someone cute and quick over 5 yards.
Basically someone who will up our conversion rate from 1 in 5 or whatever.

Can Torres be taught?
Is Delap that guy?

Haven’t a clue, but let’s not get giddy about every guy who scores in two games in a row for teams that don’t play anything like us.

If we don’t get a striker this window, yes I’m disappointed, but let’s leave the recruiting to our guys at City who have the whole picture.

We need someone who finishes a single chance or score a big goal in a big game or when pep overthinks carry the team. A big character.

If you watched Traore against the Rags yesterday, you'd know he isn't a striker. He's a winger, who's fast, powerful, cuts inside, and sometimes has an end product, but most times hasn't, and runs into player brick walls and dead ends. Not a chance City need or want him.

PS. Unless he plays against Mendy. Then he looks world class, and is worth looking at.
