It's Quiet Thread 4

right...so....

Ibra didn't play for Barca tonight.

The Spanish press are talking as though him leaving is a fait accompli that has been forced upon Guardiola.

Galliani says Ibra to Milan is 99.9% fantasy because of the wages, but "fantasies are good for us".

Tuttomercatoweb (who have all the best analysis of the transfer market) are not convinced, they think Milan could touch up one of the TV companies, a sponsor, or sell a bit of land (I think). For them, the pieces are falling into place. They also think Robinho to Barca is nailed on, because of the Sandro Roselli / Nike link.

Closer to home the reports don't know if Besiktas are in or out of the running for Robinho. I would guess that club, if pressed, might say it could go to deadline day. In fact the official line seems to be that City won't go back in the market... maybe the twinkle in Roberto's eye is just a twinkle in his eye. Or, as Tolmie and Others say.... maybe we're just done 'for the minute'... and 'circumstances' can always change.

the one question mark in my mind was Ade....don't ask me why, just a gut feeling after the Spurs game. but after seeing him jump for headers in Romania... actually jump for and win headers... I felt calmed, my doubts had almost disappeared. but how to interpret his interview to the English Press... broadly very positive about City and Mancini, and in the next paragraph suggesting he could be offski's as soon as January. what is that about? last person who said 'I'll wait until January' ended up on the very next Caravan to the Midlands.

Anyway, the papers ran the story that he had rejected Real.... in Madrid, reports come through that Benzema has been recalled to the Real squad...

So

Ibra is going to Milan or City, but he ain't staying put (unless he does).

Robbie is going to Barca, Besiktas, Fener, Lyon, Benfica, or staying at city.

Ade is going to Juve or Milan or another club, but probably not.

and that's before you even factor in Mascherano, who was going to Inter but now is going to Barca?

I'm almost scared to put this down, but....

Mascher to Barca.... Ibra to Milan... Ade to Juve.... Diego to Wolfsburg... Dzeko to city... damn...what about Inter?

fucked if I can keep up with this any more.

i got tired just reading that post haha.. nice work

Time for one last ride on the Magic Roundabout before the fair leaves town on 01 Sep?
Mancini knows full well that if Given leaves/injured then a top #2 is needed and there are still too many forwards with injury/attitude question marks to leave it alone.
Not ITK by any means but 1-2 additions and similar departures are my guess.

How sad will that prick on SSN, the Scottish one how ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE SHOUTING, sound on the last day of the window?

City not involved other than perhaps a loan deal out or two.

Chelsea not bothering

United defo not as they are skint

Villa, lol also skint

Spurs, looking to get Harewood on loan?

Liverpool, as Sven would say - wellll errrrrrrrrr!

It could be very shit indeed.

But I happen to think City have about £100m burning a hole in their pocket!

Luiz, Dzeco and Torres

Now if I were a conspiracy theorist I'd say that Torres pledging his future to Liverpool at the time a takeover seemed imminent, now makes him absolutely fire proof and his relationship with the Liverpool fans intact, if Liverpool now have to sell him because of their financial situation. Good job I'm not a conspiracy theorist eh?

Plus Torres keeps his loyalty bonus intact when he is sold "against" his wishes.

I think Torres and his advisors were spun - there was never very much interest in buying the dippers - a few expedient people sniffing around who thought they could make a quick killing! (Gillet and Hicks thought that as well I seem to recall). Just as Torres was wobbling suddenly the Liverpool fans in the media unleashed this story of several parties lining up to throw money at Liverpool - the story stunk from day one but LFC said nothing because it served there purpose to let it run. The key in the Torres debacle is what did the club say to him and his advisors:

a) sorry Fernando the media speculation is all b*llocks and we are skint
b) finally Fernando it looks like we are going to get the investment we always promised you.
c) they said very little - hoping the media would convey the message to Torres and his advisors.

Option c) is the most likely but that doesn't seem wholly viable because once the media story broke you would assume Torres and his advisors will have sought clarity - which would force LFC in to a) or b).

They probably hoped the story could sustain them until the window closed but it seems they may have come up short - and they may be guilty of spinning their prime asset a huge porky pie.

I know its on a bigger scale but, Liverpool are starting to look like we did in the latter days of Swales - not only do they not have a pot to piss in but they look more and more like the whole world has overtaken them as they try to cling on in a mixture of desperation and self denial (aided by the numpties that are Thompson, Hansen and Lawro). Oh joy.

It seems amusing that any new buyer is apparently going to have to provide funds for a new stadium as part of any sale.

The current owners are dictating the future direction of a business they are taking profit from.

Just as Kraft said one thing and did another during the Cadbury purchase I would fully expect whomever takes over and buys the club to either do a Kraft, or simply say fuck off we will invest in a new stadium when we (the prospective owners) deem it reasonable to do so.

I have never heard such a load of old tripe as I have from Liverpool recently.

The preferred bidder status Broughton and Barcap are willing to confer on one of the many interested parties s is likely to turn out to be 'the only bidders'.

And finally what would you think if you were a billionaire willing to buy Liverpool, which is basically as deep in the poo as any club can be and a distressed sale, and you are being lectured about how to run the business once it is yours?

Looks like its gonna be quiet till January which is a shame, I was enjoying us ruining football :(

Sounds like the sort of pre-conditions involved in, say, a rail franchise bidding process.

Expanding on that thought , Liverpool are about as deep in it as British Rail and Railtrack were: dead men walking, United too and more will follow.

Sorry I'm on a roll here... it's my birthday and I've had a couple already. I wouldn't be surprised if RBS haven't already got some of their guys in; managing covenants and frankly an administrator is a distinct possibility some time soon. Huang probably saw this when doing his DD... wouldn't be surprised if they're behind with HMRC too and we all know how pissed off they are with football right now so they might act.
