ITV and our group games

The Rags get bigger TV audiences than we do. Nothing to do with bias just simple business sense to keep advertisers happy

I don't see why it's an issue.

Maybe they've done a comparison of viewing figures and we got the lowest so they haven't bothered with us, maybe Sky put more money forward to show our games, you can get NowTV on a one-off if you don't have Sky anyway...

Pidge it's all about bringing a balanced view to the masses with ITV showing matches in theory to give a full picture of English or British teams in Europe.

To be fair CSKA and Vicki Plez are not to quality opposition but that wouldn't stop them showing the rags.

Who knows how it's worked out though behind the scenes, and more to the point, who cares? Have us, United, Chelsea and Arsenal all had our respective games shown live throughout the competition so far? Yes.
Based on this forum and the General Forum, it seems the agenda stuff is just getting more and more bizarre/desperate to the point even the slightest thing is now jumped on. It's like people have to have something to find fault in, in how we are being perceived. Me personally, I would prefer to see all our games on Sky, especially the 6pm coverage ones where we get an hour and half of build up. ITV is and always has been very amateur in their football coverage, imo, so on that basis i'm happy for us to have the superior broadcaster to air our games, especially if it means listening to wee Graeme.

But for someone like me who has trouble getting to midweek games because of my wife working lates & not having Sky it sucks as i hate listening to games on the wireless, can you not see it's a bit weird they haven't shown us once?

So from that it looks like they get first pick of the Tuesday night games, and their choices have been....
Week 1 - Un*t*d -v- Bayer Leverkusen
Week 2 - Celtic -v- Barcelona
Week 3 - Arsenal -v- Borussia Dortmund
Week 4 - Real Sociedad -v- Un*t*d
Week 5 - Arsenal -v- Marseille
Week 6 - Un*t*d -v- Shaktar Donetsk

Might be a blue/red thing, what with Chelsea not having any games on either. Maybe the head of scheduling just likes red things, infact I bet he's peeling the skin off his edam cheese right now for his morning feast of cheese on toast, with red sauce of course, not HP.

I too think this years scheduling by itv has been a little odd. I agree there's merit in the rags attracting large audiences on tv, but I've also always associated champions league fixtures with a floating, neutral audience. An audience you would expect to be more eager to watch last years German champions versus the second placed English team.

In the same way you'd anticipate Dortmund v rags to be an entertaining watch as a neutral.

I'm sorry but the schedulers don't know their football going on some of the dross they've shown so far this year.

When all's said and done however, itv's coverage is so dour, it's not as though we're not missing out.
