I've become a part time plane spotter

Just wondering if anyone on here do their own flight tracking with their own equipment (i.e. with a home built ADS-B receiver) and/or upload their data to the likes of flightradar24?

Or have applied to host a flightradar24 ADS-B receiver like below?
Flightradar24 - add coverage

Was reading up on it the other day and thought it might be a decent project to do with my kids

Rare visitor to Manchester, heard that distinctive drone this morning about 6am as I was getting ready.
Don't know which airline but it came from Malaga.

10 4 Biggles over and out.

Yeah we keep an eye out for it.

in flight radar search for "Airbus Transport Internatiional" the ones over manchester are Hamburg->Chester and vice versa.
 
An A380 had to abort a landing last week. no idea why but it went over our house at about 3k feet. very impressive.

Do you remember the old "guppy" that used to fly into MCR airport?



Can't be real...it would never fly!
 
I've lived for a few years now in the West Country, Concorde used to fly directly over my house. No matter how many times I saw it, it was a stunning sight.
Incidentally, back in the Mid-60's, I was waiting for a job interview and gazing out of the window from the top floor of Ship Canal House. A guy asked me what I was staring at, I replied I was watching a Bristol Britannia approaching Ringway, he argued it was a Vickers Viscount. I was right, he was the interviewer, I got the job.

So I'm lay on the beach just up from Larnaca airport chilling out cold beer in hand and I'm watching all these planes coming in to land, so thanks to our much vaunted transfer thread and because of that also the amazing flightradar.com I'm checking out all these flights as in what type of plane where its come from etc etc.
Have I become a geek now or will this affliction end when I fly back to blighty(obviously after I've tracked my plane coming in to land and pick me up)

I have the flightradar app, it is great fun. I like seeing where flights are going.
