Good job but an Island with closed borders and a population spread they have has many advantages the UK doesn't.

Covid hasn't impacted the island nations in the Pacific / Oceanic Region to any degree in terms of deaths because of closed borders although PNG is now in some strife.

if we had of used the NSW model in Australia we would have had under 100 deaths to date albeit we still close our borders to overseas travellers both ways including students from Asian countries one of our biggest money spinners.

Taiwan is the gold star IMO.

yeah but she didn't have to chose to lock down the borders. She didn't have to chose to tell people to stay home. She didn't have to have meetings, attend them and make decisions.

But she did.

The UK borders are still as porous as hell. Johnson let Cheltenham go ahead and let the dippers play whilst sitting on the GMB sofa declaring we were going to have to take it on the chin. He decided the first 5 COBRA meetings weren't worth attending, failed to take control and has constantly made vital decisions when its too late.

Thats the difference.

Anyway my posting was also as much to do with Ralf Little's comments which I thought were funny.

NZ's like Australians generally do what governments tell them to do in a health crisis , we have a lot of bush fires and floods etc.

Government is all about leadership and making decisions good or bad.

Personally I think we give them to much credence for success and too much flack for failure.

the individual knows what to do most times.

Individuals doing the right thing here have resulted in @160k deaths - individuals are fucking selfish and stupid

Five Eyes is an intelligence sharing arrangement, it is not a political alliance through which the US or anyone else can dictate a member state’s foreign policy.

We have just signed a $5bn deal to supply arms to Saudi, therefore being complicit in the troubles in the Middle East and the destruction of Yemen. Surely, using your point, we should not be traded with.
