I'm sure the plan was to move Mahrez on this summer but in this form it's unlikely.

Maybe a year on loan for Torres? It would be unusual but as he wasn't a huge investment, maybe there's less pressure to deliver in the short term?

"Move Mahrez on" makes it sound very simple and easy. I don't understand why so many people think like this because we pay high wages and high transfer fees that 90% of the rest of the market can't come close to matching. He's signed up until 2023 and has no incentive to leave, the only way is down as far as I can see. We've not been able to move on Stones or Zinchenko recently, or further back Mangala. It would be nice but I don't see it, especially in the current environment

The only way Mahrez moves on (realistically) is if PSG come knocking... that has been muted.

Can’t see City paying £100m for him, if the papers are to be believed

Slap £75m on the table and agree not to activate the Luiz buy back and Villa will accept - particularly if the player makes it clear he wants the move. That's £15m a year plus wages if he signs a 5 year deal.

Hardly a fair comparison though.... you or me could get 10 a season in this City side - and I'm well passed it.

Speak for yourself, I would ghost in on the far post and score a hatful.

Look , I think he is a very talented individual. I do not want us to sign him for a number of reasons, some technical, some not.
I believe our recruitment is the best in the business, so if they decide to pay a massive fee for the lad, then I hope he proves to be World class.
I tend to stay out of these transfer threads, posters with 500 million to spend in the middle of a pandemic, if City are able to spend a fortune on a player this Summer, you and I know it can only be spent on one special young player.
And yes highlighting the fact that Jack has scored 15 premier league goals is a little nobby on my part.

I am confused why people are saying Luiz clause. If it was a sell on then I can understand a little but removing the buy back clause doesn’t give them any benefit.

It does if they've any plans to sell him, for instance if a club are willing to pay 40m for him we'd be able to buy him back, sell him on and pocket the 15m profit.
