Simple fact is ... if you are are good enough to play for City, you'll play.

There is only 2 English players that could walk into our team at present, and we have one of them already in Joe Hart.

Just idiotic, xenophobic comments from people who havent woken up and realised England and english players aren't that good at the moment.

If Rodwell made these comments, he's a fool. No one expected him to be a guaranteed starter, same said for Sinclair. But i'm sure wages had no part to play in their decision to sign for City.

Wished him well when he left, but if he has done a 'Johnson' and has no respect for a former team, then i retract my wishes and curse him that he sucks from this day forward.

read what he's actually put. the newspapers have twisted his words. Id agree with what he has asaid

Just saw this in the Indy, it suggests the indifference towards us is because of a lack of English players. However, if we'd replaced Fernandinho with Rodwell last season, I'm 90% sure we'd have won nothing. He simply isn't close to the same level even when fit. There are fine margins in football and replacing Fernandinho with Rodwell I think would have seen us finish 3rd or 4th at best. So are we supposed to sacrifice success?

1. City must spark passion

Manchester City have won the Premier League twice in the last three seasons. Having had a transformative effect in a deprived area, they are establishing a trans-continental empire. Yet they are overshadowed by more traditional clubs because, beyond instinctive envy, they evoke indifference.

Where is the passion? What is the point of filtering progress through the cotton wool of the corporate communications strategy? It is all too calculated, too anaemic. City must acknowledge their faults, as a club which smothers young British talent, and become more transparent.

He is honest .What he meant was, if you are an average player like him then go to another club.To play first team with city you have to be a world class player.

I have it on very good authority (someone on the physio staff at City) that Rodwell WAS available for most games last season, his injury occurrence was low.
He's said this himself in an article posted on here a few pages back.

That's good, it validates my source!

More bullshit, what would be "passion" about playing players that aren't good enough ?

I asked earlier in the thread, would people rather have the best possible players and win stuff, or make room for english players and win nowt ? The only other english team that won something last year was arsenal, and they have never been noted for their strength of english talent.

at the hieght of his ability and totally injury free jack rodwell would still not get in our first 11. lucky even to make the bench.
i'm trying to be harsh on the lad its just the way it is.

Which was exactly the situation last year if you believe Rodwell himself, fit for 47/57 games, yet he hardly made the bench, it tells you all you need to know, he wasn't unfit, just not of the level required.

What he said was correct, don't sign for a club like City if you're not good enough, its quite simple, its a pity City wasted money signing players that weren't good enough in the first place, hopefully those days are gone now.

apart from Rodwell city are often blamed for not giving english players a chance and its not good for the English game etc but let's say the other clubs do even then why is the team so shit on the international level, the problem is not city its about the talent coming through and even if a half decent English player comes on the scene the media make it seem like he's world class, and the lads get complaicent and start taking it for granted no wonder stories of player wanting to skip international duty often come out,
sorry to Say but english team will remain mediocre as long as the current lot of fa remains incharge and Roy hodson as coach, did they even look at his away record while appointing him?you need people with vision in fa,there would be no short time fix and clubs who are challenging for the title can't just jeopardize there challenge for the sake of giving certain players chances
