Jack Rodwell

Getting a lot of stick but he didn't do too much wrong except that pass. My only question is why was he the furthest back on the edge of the area? Surely it's common sence to leave someone on the halfway line.

Rodwell should know better, but that position shouldn't be filled by an inexperienced player.

He started well with that fantastic sliding challenge in our box, passed well, made one mistake. Looking forward to seeing him progress

An impressive debut, unfortunate his one mistake led to a goal, however,he showed alot of promise and will prove very useful - unspectacular but solid.

That mistake definitely takes his rating down, but a solid performance. A 6 would be fair.

Take out that pass and he was one of our best 3 on the day IMO.

7/10

Totally agree with this, he'd have been in the running for MOTM before that mistake.

It's a bit worrying that our defence never seems to expect us to give the ball away like that, considering how many passes we play, once it's lost there's no cover at all.

Looked sharp when most others were asleep in the first 30 mins, faded out of it a bit in the second half.

He looked really good apart from the obvious mistake
He was definitely one of the best players on the pitch in the first half

Giving the ball away happens. It happens to everyone in every game. His biggest mistake was backing off and not closing the ball down once he'd given it away. That's why they scored, not the actual giving the ball away 100 yards from goal.

Other than that he had a calm and professional (but not outstanding) debut in which he did look nervous. Okay overall.

He'll get better.

Bit to conservative with his passing, if Nige is still here next week then he has to start at anfield.
Definitely!
