Going after the young lads with immense potential - but who are relatively unproven and callow - from the big clubs is a non-starter IMO. For one thing they dont need to sell and so the over-inflated price would far out-weigh the risk of him not fulfilling that potential.
Either we go abroad; or for the proven British players (such as Cole who I'd love to see at CoMs); or take gambles on the young lads currently at 'smaller' clubs who'd be prepared to sell with add-ons attached to counter the risk.
