Jadon Sancho

Here's another source: https://bulinews.com/news/1171/jadon-sancho-has-had-his-wages-tripled

Says the original source was Bild.

Just googled the story. Daily Mail has one story valuing him at 40m and another 12 days later valuing him at 100m

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ages-tripled-Borussia-Dortmund-2-7m-year.html

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...lan-England-starlets-taking-Jadon-Sancho.html

You clearly believe what's written in the papers, let's just leave it there mate.

Completely different. His salary is a factual entity that they can report on. All of the reports I can find suggest that Sancho's original wage at Dortmund was lower than what City offered him.

This article has a quote from Pep saying his move was about playing time rather than money: https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&s...aw3PeXyObGx17D1Hlh_HKeCV&ust=1542830258735777

His current value is based on what another club would pay for him which is much more open to speculation and gossip.

Completely different because your original "source" has been discredited. This has gone way off topic so I'll leave it with you.

No, you didn't like the name on my first source so I provided others that said the same thing.

I'm sorry you don't like that fact that I'm correct, but let's just leave this here.

Most teams who have been successful over the years have also had a decent policy of bringing through young players, including Pep's Barca. And us, in all of our periods of relative success, in all our history, prior to the takeover. We were known for it.

We allowed Pellegrini to completely disrespect that tradition & it has most likely cost us several young players we wanted to keep.

Pep's recent actions with Foden etc, plus kids playing some high profile games last season, is close to being a decent balance. Unfortunately, Pellegrini had already ruined our best crop of youngsters for decades, prior to Pep arriving & rather than handing over a collection of possible squad players for his first season, handed him a bunch of mostly aimless drifters with no confidence.
Like I said in my post, which teams are we going to see this season, ones with serious trophy aspirations or others with serious struggles, rock up at the Etihad or at their own place even, with an 18 year old in the team and with more than an odd appearance under their belt? It ain't going to happen mate, and it's no good saying we used to do it because even in the Lake/White/Hinchcliffe days we were struggling and that's why Kendall was brought in. In fact, you have to go back to the late 60s/early 70s for our teams to have a successful home grown basis but the game then was a very different animal than it is now.

That statement just underlines why we lost Sanchi.
Dortmund are top of the bundesliga, and top of their champions league group.
They are ahead of, and just beat Bayern - both teams have schooled us in recent years.

If a 17 year old is good enough for them, he is good enough for us.
A bit late, but that has to be in contention for the biggest load of bollocks post this season. Dortmund are not at our level and Bayern are on the wane with an ageing squad. It was a long time ago since both those teams “schooled” us, that post is fucking wank.

But i get a sense though that we overhype our own players. There's plenty of players who have been hyped as standout players who haven't kicked on over the years from lots of clubs.

Roberts and Barker have spent time with Pep and the first team squad and they havent been deemed ready for first team minutes. They went on loan and haven't done enough there either. Looking good at under 18 level doesn't always translate into being a top level player and by the same token players who don't look like they're going to make the grade at that level can be late bloomers.

You get teenagers who have these incredible show reels because they're quick or good dribblers and up against other kids. Once they're physically developed though and also required to show a top level attitude and reading of the game they can drop off.

It is NK's hobbyhorse that City never give our youngsters a chance to get game time.

I agree with your thoughts about overhyping, and despite all the mention which Sancho is getting , there is no certainty that he will push on to become the " £100 million " player which the more hysterical members of the media are hyping him as .

Clearly Pep rates Foden sufficiently to give him game time, which appears to be the correct decision.

The fact that he wanted Sancho to sign a contract, suggests that he also believed that he had the necessary potential to become part of the squad , if not necessarily a regular first team squad member , which Sancho felt that he deserved .

However, despite the claims of those finding fault with Pep's handling of the likes of Sancho, Diaz and others , none of them can be certain of some of the claims regarding readiness, whilst others criticise the fact that Gundogan get's playing time ahead of Diaz .

And whatever anybody thinks about Gundogan, he is a German international player, and one who Pep clearly rates.

It is all about opinion , and some feel that they know best.

Instead of enjoying the most successful period in the clubs history, a "special" few would rather hang around the Sancho thread criticising the club for letting players leave.
It's a shame we haven't got academy graduates like Rashford and Lingard tearing up the league in our side..
