Jadon Sancho

That statement just underlines why we lost Sanchi.
Dortmund are top of the bundesliga, and top of their champions league group.
They are ahead of, and just beat Bayern - both teams have schooled us in recent years.

If a 17 year old is good enough for them, he is good enough for us.

The german sides you mention "schooled" us over 4 years ago , Pep is the current manager and Sancho left our club only last season , if you seriously think either Dortmund or the German Rags could school our current team , then you need to give your head a wobble. Foden would probably get into the current Dortmund team , but he wants to play for a club that has a realistic chance of winning the Champs league , Dortmund are not in that category and Bayern are also on a rapid decline with an ageing squad.

Absolutely bob on pal, agree 100%.

I see the paragons of impartiality have accosted this thread to push their agenda

I wish city weren’t a shit, mismanaged club that loses all their youth prospects, and never learn any lessons. One can dream I suppose.

Aside from Rashford, who seemed to only get in the side after a freak number of injuries, when did united last give a 17 or 18 year old a decent number of minutes? And how many of them of them have gone on to hold a place down in that team?

I have no interest, as I said, about who 'goes on to hold down a place', it doesn't matter, so far as reputation goes.

And 'apart from Rashford' ? Who cares ? Seriously ? We have seen plenty of other young players of various ages, in their teams.

Marcus Rashford, who spent plenty of his time gazing open mouthed at Brandon Barker etc, looking like Barcelona, taking the piss out of his team mates, before he came off the bench, immediately went straight past all of our kids, & straight into Utd's first team & scored in the derby.

If he never kicked another ball for Utd, he's already given them another ten years of reputation for 'bringing through kids' whilst ours watched, wondering why none of them ever got a chance.

He’s nothing on sterling or sane anyway who cares

We will, if the 13 overseas players rule comes in in 2021 as is being proposed.

And call me old fashioned but I take way more pleasure seeing a kid come through than slapping 60 mill down on the table. I’d rather have Sancho now than Mahrez even if the latter is the better player at this moment.

I’m so looking forward to Foden becoming a regular starter. Not been this excited about a kid since Peter Barnes.

Like I said in my post, which teams are we going to see this season, ones with serious trophy aspirations or others with serious struggles, rock up at the Etihad or at their own place even, with an 18 year old in the team and with more than an odd appearance under their belt? It ain't going to happen mate, and it's no good saying we used to do it because even in the Lake/White/Hinchcliffe days we were struggling and that's why Kendall was brought in. In fact, you have to go back to the late 60s/early 70s for our teams to have a successful home grown basis but the game then was a very different animal than it is now.

Why do they have to 'rock up at the Etihad' with an 18 year old kid in their team ?

Why can't they not play him at all, against City & instead, bring him off the bench, when they are 3 up v Fulham, just like Pellegrini did with.....barely any of our kids, ever.

And you seriously think Lake, or Hinchcliffe would find it more difficult to play alongside Silva & KDB in this team rather than Trevor Morley ?

Honestly ?

Hinchcliffe was a better left back than Zinchenko when he was 12.

Here's a question for all you blase folks who trot out 'everything's fine' every time a bunch of kids who were amongst the best in the country at their age group, fuck off into obscurity or to Spain or France without ever playing a game, or leave when we wanted to keep them:

IF PHIL FODEN WASN'T A MANCHESTER CITY FAN, HOW CERTAIN ARE YOU, THAT HE WOULD STILL BE AT MANCHESTER CITY, NEXT SEASON ?

If you answer 'very' you are a liar.
