I dont think we have any idea what players are on cannot remember the last time his wages other similar players seem to be on a lot more than that but I do not believe the figures.

What do you mean by Sane pred wage increase for 2 years 4.7m p/a

Sané is on tiny wages because he's still on the contract he agreed to as a 19 year old signing from Schalke on a just-out-of-the-academy contract of roughly €20,000 a week.

He's on about 90k a week according to most the websites...

Dortmund predicting losses of €40m this year as a result of Covid-19.

They're definitely putting the word out that he's for sale this summer, so the above would provide context to those statements.

They aren't getting £100m for him in the current market though - not even from the Rags, which would have been banker for them any other summer.

I don't think the coronavirus is going to hit fees at the very top end immediately.

The thing is, if you look at a player like Koulibaly...why would ADL reduce his price? His opinion of us is that we have unlimited arab money, and if Koulibaly doesn't get sold then it's great.

Dortmund is the same, they are happy to keep Sancho if no one offers a good price, but I think there could be opportunities if you offered 100% up front, as opposed to the usual payment over several years.

Yeah - de Laurentiis is a different game altogether, for sure. You've got the unpredictable element of his ego in the mix, and his pathological obsession with vainly attempting to portray himself as a major player in modern football politics by playing different parties off against eachother when selling his big name players.

de Laurentiis will get his price, Coronavirus or no Coronavirus. If we want Koulibaly, we'll have to pay up - or he won't be leaving Napoli at all.

I don't see Dortmund as the same scenario at all - they're a selling club, and they accept that fact. It's absolutely central to their entire pitch to Europe's most promising youth talent when convincing them to join Dortmund, so they'll find a deal if the player wants to leave.

They can't be seen to be hanging on to players when their desire is to move on to a bigger club, and blocking them progressing their careers - it kind of screws up the trust implicit in their deal when getting players to sign for them. If they are seen as being obstructive and blocking a desired move for a very reasonable price, players may think twice about joining them in the first place.

If Sancho wants to go, he'll go - and IMO they won't be in a position to keep him for another season for the sake of, say, £20m - particularly with the losses you highlight.

I think Dortmund might ask him for one more season if X price isn't met this summer.

I agree with this. At the top end I think we’re going to see a wide spread between asking prices and the level where responsible clubs are willing to bid. Maybe there’s an outlier or two but I think top players just end up stuck in place for a year while their clubs wait for the market to recover. Where I think you see a big decrease is in the middle tier of the market. If you’re a club like Arsenal (picking a random example) and thought you had £60-70m to spend going into the summer, but now have £30-40m, you still going to need to fill the same two positions or whatever so you either move downmarket or adjust bids way down. Enough clubs will need to move a player or two on at the lower level either to shore up finances or facilitate their own business and all of sudden the market resets down.

Disagree a bit about the fee's I don't think many clubs will be able to afford the fee's of a year ago.

As for Napoli covid losses plus 99% no CL next season will hit them hard.
