James Bond Films. Are They All That?

They range from great to terrible. Brosnan was my favourite Bond, but he got given some absolutely fucking woeful films to do later on, after the ridiculously good Goldeneye. Daniel Craig is good, but again it's entirely dependant on the film. Casino Royal is fantastic, but the one after was utter shite, then Skyfall was decent. Roger Moore's are the only ones I don't like, as I find the man creepy as fuck and most of his films are really brain dead. I really liked Timothy Dalton, I thought he was unlucky not to get more films, but I think his gritty, violent films were maybe too big a jump from the ridiculisuly camp Moore films.

This. It was very unfortunate for Dalton and I believe Craig more than borrows from him. Brosnan's Goldeneye was brilliant and I still don't understand how they went so wrong with the rest of his films.

Start at invisible cars...

The most recent Casino Royale has to be amongst the best films ever made, Skyfall was also really good. Craig is definitely the best bond there has been for me.

At the start of the 1980's the now late John Gardner took up where Fleming had left off and continued with a whole series of excellent 007 adventures. None of yet have ever sadly been made into a film. I've read most (but not all) of them. Just wondered if anybody else had?

I love Bond movies but I grew up on them. My first memory of going to the cinema is seeing Dr No; although I was very young at the time and think I slept through most of it. I even had James Bond wallpaper in my bedroom at one point (age 8-10).

Connery remains my favourite Bond and You Only Live Twice is my favourite Bond movie. I even liked the Moore movies; especially the first two but they did get a bit silly at times.

The standard of the movies has gone up and down over the years but, as someone else mentioned that is partly a reflection of the times. I thought Skyfall was excellent.

Another aspect I really like about the Bond movies is the John Barry's soundtrack work: he produced some of the best movie soundtracks ever and I actually have several of them on cd.

Yes they are all that ...... Pure entertainment

isnt that what every movie & tv show aims to be?

I liked the opening 15 minutes of Skyfall, the rest of it was Skyfail I thought

God Im a miserable ****

I have loved Bond from the beginning. I grew up with him. Outside of Star Wars, they are the first films I remember. They were never classy or relevent, but they were fun and memorable. Since Craig has taken over, they have changed direction from camp to meaningful. Casino Royale is amazing. Quantum of Solace is meh (we will see in the story line). Skyfall speaks for itself. You don't make a crap 1.1 BILLION dollar movie. And it was good. I look forward to where the series is going, and more importantly where Craig is taking it. He's been brilliant. Loved him in Layer Cake, and Bond was a brilliant casting. Well done.
