James Bond Films. Are They All That?

Only found out tonight
that he's dead.
Iconic really,
end of an era.

Thank goodness. The Craig films were crap after Casino Royale. I wish they'd have replaced him much earlier and had each film as it's own story rather than the decade and a half of story you had to remember in the Craig films.

Not watched any for years and not seen all the Craig ones.
Just shocked that Bond is Dead.

Quantum of Solace and Spectre had their flaws, not helped by product delays and the writers strikes but how anyone can call Skyfall crap is mind boggling. Outstanding film. The old theme tune and DB5, Judi Dench being a total badass, the stunning Scottish scenery…brilliant film.

Skyfall is a great film. Admittedly though, the franchise has run its course.

Skyfall was really quite good and easily the best film with Craig as Bond.

No Time to Die and Spectre were ok, probably prefer the former.

Casino Royale was a bit overrated in my view but following on from the absolute garbage last couple of Brosnan films it was a welcome change. In fact those final Brosnan films were so bad that the whole franchise was at risk looking back.

Quantum of Solace was terrible, with the opera scene the only real highlight.

Agreed. The only truly bad Craig outing was QOS.

Watched NTTD and noted that JB seemed to be knocking back the booze with much regularity- was this a move on the writers and directors part to reflect the original character as depicted by Fleming?

1977 - Star Wars, Close Encounters and the greatest Bond film of them all, The Spy Who Loved Me.

Saw all three at the cinema, aged 14, and thus my cinema-going experience peaked.

Moore and Connery streets ahead of the rest IMHO.

A debate as old as muffin vs barm, but personally I can't stand Roger Moore's Bond. Way too slapstick and tacky, absolutely zero connection to Fleming's character. For me he's the worst Bond.

IMO Brosnan was massively short changed by poor writing. Goldeneye showed that given the right script he was a brilliant Bond. Tomorrow Never Dies was decent but the other Brosnan films were terribly written, none of it was his fault.
