James Bond Films. Are They All That?

Thank goodness. The Craig films were crap after Casino Royale. I wish they'd have replaced him much earlier and had each film as it's own story rather than the decade and a half of story you had to remember in the Craig films.

Two things

1 They weren't crap

2 He didn't bloody write or direct them

A debate as old as muffin vs barm, but personally I can't stand Roger Moore's Bond. Way too slapstick and tacky, absolutely zero connection to Fleming's character. For me he's the worst Bond.

I‘ve always been a Bond fan, first film I ever went to was Dr No, although I think that was because my parents wanted to go and could find a babysitter.

I am therefore very much Connery is Bond but I liked the first two Moore movies; especially Live and Let Die.

Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace suited Craig's dour style.

After that you had a load of very average films that did go back to the less grounded ways of the classic Bonds but without any of the charm of the older Bond's.

The best bond is a city fan, let down by being cast later he was suposed to be and being dropped for Bronson.

Joint best I suppose obviously as Conery was the original so by default defined the role.

Yep, I completely understand why people don't like Moore's Bond. All personal taste of course.

To answer the OP‘s question; it depends on what ‘That’ is.

They’re mostly a decent watch, but will never be critically acclaimed.

They’re at their best, for me, when they are more humorous than action based and for me, Craig isn’t good enough at the one liners, so I haven’t enjoyed the last few films as much.

You must be a fan of Her Majesty's Secret Service then?
