James concerts

I saw them for the first and only time at Glastonbury in 1990 and I was mightily impressed.

That was a great day. Marc Riley & The Creepers were on top form too.
Pretty much everyone went to see James and when they finished their set the comperes came on and were begging people to stay to see Simply Red, but about 90% of the crowd headed home. Me and my mate included.
In fairness, Mick Hucknall didn't seem to be such a dick in 1985.
He had a superb voice and Simply Red were a group back then - before the egotist sacked the rest of the band, over the coming years.
Saw Simply Red at The International, on Dickinson Road and they were good value. "Money's Too Tight To Mention" was a good cover version...

Saw them kids in the 80s. They did a tour with Happy Mondays as support and I went to quite a few of them because I was a Mondays fan too.

I can remember the first time I heard them, on The Old Grey Whistle test and they came across as pure Manchester/Factory with their jumpers and haircuts. I also remember the Village Fire EP appearing in picadilly record and I bought it and almost wore it out. I also got on stage with them once at The Ritz.

I stopped liking them when they made it to be honest. It all got a bit Simple Minds/U2 for me and I’d discovered over forms of music. In fact my cousin got me a ticket for a James gig about 2 years ago at Wembley arena for old time’s sake. To be honest I was bored.
