Went to see James the other night for the 40th anniversary tour.
They had an orchestra and choir, and reworked some of their songs.
It was different, but still brilliant. Singing along to different versions of some classics and enjoying some older ones I didn't know.
James seem to get better every time I see them.
They didn't have a support band and did two sets.
Thoroughly enjoyed the concert, so many great songs.

Went on the Tuesday. Bloody superb, only spoilt by missing the game, good job it clashed with the away leg!!

Saw them in Newcastle a couple of weeks ago - it was brilliant.

They’ve had to cancel the last 2 gigs though as Tim has a virus and his voice has gone.

I was at that gig. Thought the 1st 3 songs were average but after that class. Will the Royal Albert Hall gig be going ahead as my son has tickets for that one?

The RAH have released extra tickets which have been promoted by the band so, whilst no confirmation, it’s promising.

They’re playing with The Coral in Liverpool in July.

Anyone go to Piece Hall last night. Great, atmospheric gig in the storms. Show had to be paused due to lightning and the metal stage.

I was never that keen on their music after 1990 but fucking hell...what a band! They just had a number one album too. When you look and hear how other bands from James' era sound today...most should give up.. they must be one of the most underrated bands this side of the solar system. Or Whalley Range.

GMEX early 90s. Can't remember the exact year but 91 ish. Absolutely fucking steaming! Been drinking Tennants super before I went out and totally lost the plot. Spewed up all over some bird in a On the 8th day god created Madchester top then got kicked out. Mint night !

Agreed, great musicians but a brilliant show as well, I was on the top tier and initially thought the screens were too small but they just served to encourage you to focus on the stage instead, so glad I did, visually brilliant, Tim Booth certainly knows how to work a crowd and the rest of them gave him plenty of support. I was treated to my ticket and have no idea of the cost but whatever it was I would've been happy to pay. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

What's Larry doing these days?

Good question. He's showed up in a few one-off gigs and stuff here and there but doesn't seem very musically active, as far as I can tell. Maybe he's still designing furniture.

All 3 times they were brilliant but the Castlefield gig was something else. There's just something about that venue which makes gigs special. New Order was the same
