James concerts

Good question. He's showed up in a few one-off gigs and stuff here and there but doesn't seem very musically active, as far as I can tell. Maybe he's still designing furniture.
I met Larry once at Manchester Town Hall....some gig they did there in the mid 80s. Friendly guy.

Good night tonight at Factory International with a screening of the Acropolis concert from last year, which was amazing, and a Q&A afterwards. And the band were sat in the row in front of me for the screening, and I didn’t realise till they stood up for the Q&A!!

Seen them 3 times live
GMex
Manchester Arena
Castlefield Bowl

All 3 times they were brilliant but the Castlefield gig was something else. There's just something about that venue which makes gigs special. New Order was the same
I was at both of those. The James gig was magical. The New Order gig was full of absolute knobs.
I have seen New Order god knows how many times, all over Europe. That was the worst crowd I have ever seen at a NO gig.

Did you se NO at heaton park? Brilliant atmosphere with most of the crowd reliving the e-fuelled 80's loved-up vibe.

I actually went to the Christmas markets they had there a few weeks ago. Must admit it looks spectacular but I did spend most of my time trying to work out how they turn it into a concert venue!
Stage goes at one end, can get balcony tickets which cost more but keep out of the weather, give better bar access etc and less crowded, its an amazing venue which has plenty gigs booked for next summer. Easy to get to from Manchester by train, can even do a bit of an ale trail on the way.

Saw them at ingliston Edinburgh a couple of years ago
Was speaking to the tour manager after it and she was saying they hate doing the festival/hits gigs. Prefer to play new stuff and experiment

Completely missed this reply to my post at the time. Glad you mentioned the balcony tickets as that's what we've gone for. I'm old now so the easier access to the bar and toilets definitely swung it for me!

Doesn't surprise me. They're one of those bands who have a vast back catalogue of interesting music yet are only 'famous' for a handful of songs that aren't really representative of their wider sound.

The new live Blu-Ray from the Acropolis in Athens, with choir and orchestra landed on my doorstep yesterday.

My God. Just when you thought they could not possibly get better, they do this. It is beyond stunning. Still far and away the greatest live band on the face of the planet with zero contenders.
I only just watched it, a truly amazing gig. I cannot wait to see them here in September.
