James McAtee

As we won the treble id say we picked the players required, he needed patience he didn't have it , good luck to him warming the bench at Chelsea instead winning nothing

Fair point. I think he will end up playing for Chelsea quite a lot though. Winning trophies is great, but he barely played any part in it and he warmed the bench for us most of the time

If you’re a young player, I’d rather play first team football or at least move to a club that will give me the opportunity than sit on the bench

Mcatee needs first team football. He’s already trained with the city squad. playing for Sheffield United every week has developed him more in my opinion.

I think that this loan will be as good as McAtee is willing to make it. It will be a different experience from last season as the Blades will mostly be on the back foot and he will have to do lots of largely thankless running and covering.
If he can keep his motivation to do that and show his skill when he gets the opportunity then it will be a good loan.
I may be optimistic but I think he will do really well and either come back ready to contend for a first team place or move on for a large fee.
He seems very determined - has had a personal coach for a long time and obviously focuses on improving his overall game in his own time.

I agree. He reminds me of Bernardo and David - a creator in the final third, with vision, control and passing ability. I think he can play wide but will be more effective centrally. He is young and inexperienced though, so will need time, minutes and patience.
That was definitely the case in the EDS, his game was transformed when he moved inside. Always looked a bit lost out wide

Sorry I missed the reply , Chelsea are not a patient club , and I truly believe that currently Cole requires a club to be patient ( as well as himself ) he will blow hot and cold , when he's hot he's hot! I understand him wanting first team football, but I feel he's made a big mistake going to Chelsea compared with other options he would have had.and I belive that it's money motivated ( not that it's an issue it's a job after all ) but solely on playing time he had better options imho.
My reply wasn't regarding Maca , who I believe is a little further away from our first team due to not being around , a season in the premiership in surroundings he is already used to seems like a great idea, and if he cuts it I'm sure will elevate his much closer next season

Think he's shot himself in the foot tbh. Sheffield look fucking dreadful. They will be in a relegation battle all season and after a few shellackings the number 10 who is on loan from somewhere else will be the first player sacrificed for a big lad who puts in a shift defensively.

Think he should have opted for a club who plays football rather than the Sheff Utd style shite.

Wouldn't write him off like that to be honest, he battled his way into the team last season ahead of some senior players when it came to the crunch point of the season.

They've lost their most creative player as well and not replaced him. If he can be the one that provides the moments of quality then he can become a first choice there.

I think it will be tough for him but if he grafts he stands a good chance of playing. Workrate trumps size and if he can emulate the likes of Bernado for effort then he will be ok. His ability to carry the ball should suit the playing on the break style that the Blades will probably adopt.
