You may be right and they are doing it to let him settle in, but out of 12 league games he’s been there for he’s been in the squad for 7 games and played in 4 of them totalling less than 30 mins Combined.

Maybe they didn’t need as much convincing with money because there is a clearer pathway. Maybe McAtee’s camp are saying there’s not an obvious pathway here for James so you’ll have to up your offer to really convince us that you want him here for the future.If it's a money issue then we must be offering lower than we did to Palmer and Delap? Or he wants more than them potentially.
McAtee will know what they're on so I wouldn't have expected too much negotiating.
