hes no more of a twat on the pitch than a lot of people ,think he gets an even worse press because of the poppy stuff ,its a free country so he can do what he wants ,

oh hang on its a free country because of the sacrifices of the men and women with whom we salute with the poppy,
As an Irishman, may I respectfully point out that the Crown Force - in all of its manifestations - has consistently behaved abominably in my country (and also many others). To hold them up as champions of freedom is an insult to the millions around the globe that that combined institution has slaughtered for the advancement and enabling of colonialism (and capitalism).
I say this as someone - from a military family of many generations - who has had family members serve and die fighting both for and against the wretched fucking thing, by the way.
My great-grandmother, for example, was summarily executed by the Black & Tans because her son (my grandfather) was at large during our War of Independence. My other grandfather drank himself to death because he couldn't readjust to life after the trenches of WWI... there are other stories, too. It's a long and horrifying list that's replicated (in some form or another) in just about every family on these islands - but the bottom line is always the same. One working man killing another so that their bosses can enjoy a better class of life.

Nothing personal, Peace frog, (sorry if it feels like I'm having a pop at you) but it just boils my piss when this lionisation of military institutions gets cranked up every year and none dare speak against it.

Some poignant heartfelt opinions. I do feel this lad will cause injury on the field with some terrible tackles though.

Don't actually mind the guy. The poppy thing is up to him, and it takes a lot of balls to say no to it. As for the bad tackles, Slippy Gerrard was ten times worse, so was that little fucktard Scholes - so I don't actually think he's that bad.

He appears to have an issue with what one element of the British Army did in his home town before he was even born. His own 'leaders' in Mcguiness who i believe was involved to some extent in Bloody Sunday have managed to move on but he can't even tho he himself had absolutely nothing to do with the events in question. And because of this refuses to remember those that died in other conflicts to enable his freedom. More than just a bit confused if you ask me. Why bring attention to yourself like this unless you are seeking to or just plain stupid. I wonder if he has a similar issue with Eamon deValera, the man who comiserated with Nazi Germany on Hitlers death? People need to move on and remember that the poppy is a non political symbol. Aside from that he's a bang average and dirty footballer, who will be remembered for not wearing a poppy not his footballing skills. Ah that's why!

So you lived through it all yourself?

Even the opium wars?

I wouldn’t say he was the biggest wanker, but he’s guilty by association as he seems friendly with the actual biggest wanker in the game.

Im certainly not defending illegal and mudereous actions in Ireland but whether you like it or not they are the main reason we live in a free society that we do today. They are two separate issues surely.
