James Milner - Why Buy Him?

Last night when Garcia went off, it was blatantly obvious Milner was the obvious choice to replace him. But instead he put's Rodwell on, who was shit scared all night. Then made a fuck up which looked like coming for a while.

If he goes in January i don't blame him, it's a joke how we buy him for his midfield attributes but persist to play him out wide.

Milner could be the perfect fit for Barry when he moves on or finishes, at the moment i'd have Milner over Garcia and Rodwell.

Garcia is good, but he's too slow. Went missing last night again at times and he doesn't even react to the game quick enough. He doesn't close down enough or move with the pace of the game, even when it's not quick he's always a few seconds behind.

Hopefully this is just down to 'adjustment' and he gets up to speed over the next couple of months, otherwise,we've just spunked another 20m.....

In the aftermath to this game, Roberto Mancini said our players have run more. He is right but wouldn't we have more running power and effort in the team if Gareth Barry were in the side> Barry's with his driving presence covers a lot of ground, makes tackles and would allow us to play a higher tempo pressing game. He and Garcia in tandem would allow Yaya Toure to do what he is best at further forward. If Roberto thinks Barry is too tired the why not play James Milner on central midfield? He has barely had a chance in that role after he excelled there for Aston Villa and like Barry has a superb attitude and work ethic and he would run and run and run. There is no logical reason for him to be overlooked. Surely with his experience he is a better option than the rather green Rodwell right now, and possibly even Garcia. City suffered from this rotation policy and Yaya's wings were clipped by having to anchor midfield. Roberto Mancini is an excellent manager who brought us our first title but he has to stop messing about the team with this rotation policy. If someone is tired in a game then sub him but why not put our best team out?

Roberto stated that he knows the problem and that he is going to resolve it. He needs to if we are to challenge in the League and progress in Europe, because we do not look as strong s we did last year in either competition, and we do not look like we have learned from last year’s Champions League lessons.

Whatever fans think, Mancini clearly doesn't rate him.

Only injuries will get him in the side and even then he will be played out of position.

Personally. I don't think he is any better than anyone else we have in midfield.

Yaya aside( and even he was crap last night) our midfield isn't good enough. It was blatantly obvious last season when yaya went on his jollies, yet Mancini has not addressed it at all. In fact he has made it worse by selling de Jong. Teams are sussing that If they up their workrate then our midfield is powderpuff and doesn't work equally as hard.

We can talk about Dzeko, kompany, balotelli all day long but if we had a decent midfield there would be no problems in any of those areas.

It is this area that will cost us this season.
