James Milner - Why Buy Him?

I think Bobby Manc thought he would be City's version of Stevie DJ Beater, sadly Jimmy doesn't have the technique, should have started in place of Sinclair today.

He's quality but Mancini clearly doesn't rate him so that's why he doesn't play. Wouldn't begrudge the guy if he moves in January he deserves to be playing first team football.

More fool Mancini then. Milner is a far better player than Rodwell or Garcia in the options he gives us on the field. If he goes in January it'll be a complete waste of a tactical and financial nature. Makes me think we bought him only to deprive a rival club and I hate that shit.

James Milner was a board signing and a very bad one at that. The board wasted 25 million on him and Mancini was probably rightfully pissed. He would not even get into any top 7 midfield in the premiership. As a winger can do a job, but not great either. Vastly overrated here. Mancini is right not to want to use him in my opinion. Will be sold and probably struggle to make Europe for the team he plays for.

absoloute bull shit. vastly overated by who, plays well most times hes on, great workrate, good passing and good at defending, what has he done wrong.

feel so sorry for him. Were getting ripped apart at LB and RB -with milners defensive cover and work rate he could really improve us. The lad must be thinking what hes done wrong.

every time hes in the team hes excellent, but then gets dropped same with dzeko.
Pretty much how I feel about the situation.

The Real Madrid game was crying out for Milner's qualities as a player, today too.

Just don't get it. He's better than Rodwell.

im not his biggest fan today but would agree that we could have done with his covering in the fullback positions today

Assuming the top 7 is, City, rags, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spuds, Newcastle and Everton, I'd say hes a lot better than Guiiterz(sp? and Gibson, both are regulars at a top 7 team.

I think that's wide off the mark.

When he plays centre mid for us he's usually up with the men of the match.

He's as much a winger as Frank Lampard or Scott Parker are.

He is so versatile and industrious, maybe just lacking the natural ability that would take him to the top, however, his skillset should always be available - i'm at loss why he doesn't even make the bench??

Today he would have been ideal to replace Garcia when he was obviousy struggling - another bad Mancini decision.
