James Milner

People keep saying about the way he behaved after leaving us, but other than a fairly innocuous sound bite and celebrating a goal I’m still not sure what they mean? I’m not being deliberately obstinate either. Is there some particularly damning interview that I’ve missed?!
To be fair I'm probably basing this on the same interview( and also the fact I'm a bit drunk which is never the basis for a valid opinion) it just annoyed me especially after he was moaning about game time then when he got it he wasn't happy with his position. On top of that the way commentators who are clearly pro Liverpool make city fans out to be disrespectful after all that he did for us( as they see it) winds me up, admittedly more than it should, but it's still annoying

Milner bags silver at magical night in Kiev while Raheem Sterling still reels from disappointing season having crashed out in quarter finals.

No you've not as far as I know what erks me is the way Sterling gets grief about he left for money ,he left to win trophies, if you didn't laugh you'd cry.

Fair enough mate. Just feels to me it’s one of those things that escalated quite quickly, and the lie becomes the truth so to speak. I’ve never really seen any actual quotes from Milner that I’ve thought were particularly out of order, although happy to be corrected.

Yeah, the disparity in how the two players, fuck it the two teams, are treated is a joke. That’s British football journalists for you, very few of them have any real credibility these days. That’s on them though, not Milner.

You might be right to be fair regarding the quotes. For me personally it's an accumulation of the things I've mentioned. In isolation they probably wouldn't bother me but all added up, he went down in my estimation, which I'm sure keeps him up at night ha

He scored a cracking goal for us against Villa at the Etihad, his team mates were joyous, he looked like he was at a funeral pyre out of respect for his former club. Playing for Liverpool he scored against us and celebrated like a banshee, full of spite and vitriol. What the hell had we done to James to incite this reaction apart from pay him well, playing in a team where he won his trophies, appreciate his integral efforts and sing his name when announced on the team sheet. I don't understand, must be a cult thing.

Yeah he seemed to thing we mistreated him or something. As I've said I've no problem with players celebrating against their former clubs, in fact it annoys me when they don't, but he seems to have a chip on his shoulder about city but I can't understand why

We gave the cu*t a hefty salary and the chance to play and collect 2 x premiership medals and other prizes along the way. Never would have done that elsewhere.
He left after greedily running down his contract (his choice, not ours) to be a "regular starter" in the midfield at Liverpool because he was never going to do that with us. Well that never really happened.
The kicker is when he celebrates scoring a goal in our faces. Some might not care but a lot do therefore show some respect you ungrateful c*nt
Last night was poetic justice for him and that scummy football club, he can f*ck right off!

Comprehensive and correct. He's versatile maybe he can allocate and play in goal for the gurning Klopp, it will be their year next year, of course.

I assumed I missed something too.
I watched the 5-0 home game in a pub in Bangkok and there was a load of scousers around me (which turned out to be great). When Milner came on, one of the scousers - in a high pitch, broad scouse accent - was shouting "they're booin' Milner, they're fuckin' booin' Milner". He asked me why and I couldn't really answer him. Personally, I've got nothing against the lad.

As others have said it was an accumulation of lots of little things he said and did once he left us that explains the vitriol towards him. He came to us, won trophies and was paid well. The fan's always treated him well, indeed I remember him getting a standing ovation near the end of his last season when he was subbed.

Once he left he started with the snide comments, falling into the narrative that Liverpool was a big and better club than us and implying he had more chance of winning trophies there than playing for us. He then did that celebration after he scored right in front of our fans.

I have never heard him speak particularly with any warmth towards the club or fans since he left which makes me feel he never felt any love for our club at all in all his time here.

Sure it might sound petty revelling in his pain at losing again and winning nothing so far since he signed for the cult but that is football fans for you. We are a pretty unforgiving lot towards someone who we feel has disrespected a club we love.

He moaned about lack of plying time in his last season with us, then when he was getting plenty time on the pitch, he shifted the narrative to not being happy about where he was being utilised, he wanted to play in central midfield if I recall correctly.

Once he was at Liverpool, he spent, when I seem to remember, most of his time at leftback, and even this season he was rarely used in any form in the first half of the campaign.

Why isnt he pissing and moaning about his lot there.

He's only been playing centre mid recently due to their injury problems.

Possibly has been a bit of tit for tat in way the bin dippers have treated Sterling albeit he has been particularly classless in some of the things he said and his gold celebration. I sure he believes he is a better player than he actually is. His self imposed international retirement backs this up. Always the bridesmaid never the bride syndrome
