Im torn on this one, my heart says Trafford but my head says Costa. (Three times Liga team of the season cant be too shoddy)
Didnt realise till now that Trafford actually had a great season in league one with Notlob before his Burnley move. PFA team of the season and Notlob young player of the year. Has Joe Hart at Shewsbury vibes about him.

Huge risk this one. For all his faults, Ederson has been a significant part of our last decade - Trafford represents buying a youngster on the up (a bit like when we bought Ederson actually). Pay off could be great, or we could absolutely fucking it

It’s a risk , but if it pays off your laughing. You would then have Englands future number one , a permanent home grown spot. So you wouldn’t have to worry about that.

Academy prospect that went out came back and done well, that then sends a message to all the lads in the academy that there is way into City after loans or being sold.

City fans will worry about this but City will have been tracking Trafford closely. I hope we make the change. Trafford's record last season shows he's a good keeper, and last season Ederson was not at his best.

This is a very big decision but the transfer news suggests that it is a genuine possibility

That isn’t true. The buy back is 40 mil which fabrizo is reporting this morning.

It’s gonna get done
The buyback is 40m but it seems that we are offering less which is an unusual step to be taking, if true

He struggles when the ball goes above his head and put under pressure, so had a nightmare in league 1 with an average team, but good at saving shots from breakaways, so does better at teams who dominate the possession.

He did get dropped for Muric last time Burnley were up about 2/3rd through the season. His dive against Luton was a return to his dropped for Savin form.

If Trafford is coming as No.2 and willing to fight for No.1 spot then this is a great signing for the squad given the HG
Trafford comes in at number 1, eddie and ortega go.

Most likely we use the lad from chelsea as 2nd choice and promote Spike to 3rd choice, as he is seen as a future 1st choice goalie prospect.

We were lucky with Ortefa to. have a premier league standard keeper willing to play second fiddle 80% of the time, it won't happen again so any good keep we bring in (trafford, costa etc) will be for 1st choice as none will be wanting to be bench warmers

I posted in the squad planning thread last month that from a squad size point of view Trafford just makes sense.

Foden and Bobb are the only 2 club HG players leaving 2 slots open. Trafford frees up a non-HG space and is pretty much ready for this level.

If we persist with the Dias and Gvardiol parnership, and play a high line, a shot stopping exppert is more needed than a sweeper keeper, with no pace in our defence and our high line, we need a keeper who is confident on one on ones, Eddie is good but not his greatest asset, Orgeta is good but also bad at times.

If one goes both go imho and who ever we bring in needs to be good at saving over passing this time.

Traffird can pass btw, he was taught at our Academy after all and many blues wanted him as 2nd choice not sold at the time

I think its obvious that Ederson is going. I`m more than happy for Trafford to come back, i`m not entirely convinced he`s a number one for us though? If Ortega wants to be a number one as well then he`s going to leave so maybe its Ederson and Ortega out and Costa and Trafford in?
So around 40m for a number two keeper?

And what around 80/90 million spent on two keepers. Can’t see that happening.

We’ll sign one keeper who will end being first choice. Trafford isn’t moving here to be a back up

It’s either this or only purchase ready made players though. Sometimes buying a young player with huge potential is worth it

Most of our best players you could class a risks - stones for example

Those who keep banging on about banging on about Trafford being young and a risk seemed to have overlooked what our transfer policy now is.. to buy young and invest in the future . We are now in an almost total re-build. As for Trafford those expressing doubts did not watch him last season.
