Read a new link of us with Marco Asensio. But £88m reported fee casts doubt on how fair the value is. Asensio is 22, plays for Real but osnt that much of a goalscorer. Plays winger and AM.

Should we be in for him and if so whats a fair valuation?

Three reports in the last 24 hours on three rumours of asensio to PL.

1. The rags are in for asensio as makeweight for de gea departure.

2. Klopp willing to spend most of the coutinho money (quoted £132m) for Asensio.

3. We City are in for him for £88m. One report (Dailystar) claims we are hijacking the rags target.


I personally think clubs are asking around but nothing concrete as yet. Dont think if we are seriously interested he’ll come this window though. Asensio will only go if Real has replacement.

i really had high hopes for the laporte deal to be honest mate. perfect age, quality and can play left CB or LB? with saving the sanchez money laporte would be a perfect signing for us but it looks like it was all bullshit :-(

Great minds think alike :-) I am personally even more concerned about the CM position. If we get a CB injury we can somehow manage in most case, but if Fernandinho gets injured we are pretty much f..cked in my humble opinion.

That’s why I said on the Fred thread, a bit of a tongue twister that! If we signed him, Fernandinho could drop back to centre back if we get any injuries there and Fred would slot right in. But if Fernandinho gets injured, we will be vulnerable. Can’t play Toure again this season, he’s finished. I’m not sure about gundogan playing in Fernandinho's position.

He's only on loan plus if they flogged their best player they'd have to replace him as like for like as they could.

With Delph and Kompany having chronic problems, the priority has to be sort out CB and/or someone that can cover LB/DM. The good news is that the club is in good hands so I'm sure they will be working hard on options, without feeling the need to play them out over twitter just to satisfy the needy

West Ham's Arthur Masuaku looks like he could be Pep's kind of player at LB. Ridiculously skillful at times and looks like he works hard. Haven't heard his name mentioned at all though and don't know if West ham would sell.

Ideally Fred, and a 3rd choice cb is needed. If we buy a left back then it will be a problem next season as maffeo is coming back which means he will take danilos position and Danilo will be cover for lb or he may be excess to requirement as well.
Pep said we need 3/4 players. I wonder who the other 2 are? Cb and dmf are sure 3rd one is a striker if aguero leaves and the 4th one may be a replacement for kompany.
So the likings of Laporte/ Ingo Martinez comes in equation along with Evans.
Laporte, evans, Fred and griezmann may be the ideal buy this window or the next.

May be we don't need to buy anyone. We are top of the league by 13 points and we can afford to rest players in crutial moments of the season.
May be we are too impatient now as we are used to buying players and sanchez has gone to united. Let's hope we get at least a player out of 4 players that pep has demanded.
