January transfer window

No need for a right back imo. If we sign a backup, once Richards finds his fitness we'll be back to the situation we had last year with three players fighting one position. Milner and Boyata can do a job there if needs be.

Dont get the obsession with wanting a new CB, personally I think any defender would look poor in our system given the amount of space between defence and midfield. This will improve as players get used to Pelles tactics, they just need time. Kompany, Demi, Nastasic and Lescott is more than enough cover.

Cant see anything happening in Jan, had a feeling Dzeko might leave after the Plzen game but I thought he looked much better against Munich and could still well be an important squad player till the end of the season. It wouldnt surprise if he did leave in Jan though if a good offer did come in.

Only position we desperately need to strengthen imo is central midfield. A proper world class CM would complete our squad but I suspect the likes of Vidal, Gundogan etc won't be available until the summer.

Although its a bit risky I would like to see more faith in youth rather than spend more money on signings. Something Chelsea have failed to do after investing millions in their youth development. Rekik and Denayer will hopefully be important squad players next season once Lescott leaves in the summer. Lopes could also do a job on the left.

there is now.

Seeing as we're going for the title and are in very new territory with the CL big boys we need to reinforce.

imo we need a first rate CB, Another Fernandinho and a first rate left winger (basically a left sided Navas).

The outlay would be worth it to secure the league and progress past Barcelona.

Who plays right back against Barca and co. when Zabs is unavailable?

??

Hope it isn't serious or we're in the brown stuff......

yhp, not sure who we could tempt in Jan anyway, not a lot of great RB's going around.

Okay, im new here so please no hate.

IMO if Jovetic doesn't get his big break, sell him in the summer. Also Yaya needs to sit on the bench more often to freshen up his bones, I swear i can hear them squeaking every match. We need to sign Gundogan and Mangala and sell Dzeko but not to Arsenal. Also, due to reoccuring injuries, Luke Shaw is a must.

Pantillimon's potential needs to get found out because he is very good. Knowing MP joe will get sold and i hope we do not get someone shiet.

Essentially:

IN: Gundogan, Valdes, Mangala, and Shaw (half in Jan, half in summer)

OUT: Clichy, Joe, Dzeko

Stick to Fifa pal.

Walker and Clyne.

Clyne's a good choice but I doubt Southampton will want to part with him at this stage of the season.

Nobody really wants to part with a player in January but the extra cash infusion is going to tempt someone who's a) not in Europe this season b) realizing their realistic table position. Southampton checks on both.

They will want to finish high as possible and a Europa League place is well within their capabilities. Most importantly they will have to look for a replacement as well. Difficult when teams have only a month to complete their business. Plus he will want to do his best for the club that gave him his opportunity and not totally shit on them.

I wouldn't mind going for clyne at all. I've bashed anybody who's wanted to sell micah all season... but honestly, if we got clyne as his replacement, I'd be OK with it. Clyne is a player. Superb athlete with good technique and work rate. Plays a decent ball in too and would fit the system well.

-- Tue Dec 17, 2013 8:18 pm --

Crystal palace? .... They have chambers, another very talented young gun from the academy who played RB at the beginning of the season when clyne was out. I'm not saying I think they'd being willing to sell, but with the right money anything can happen

I just read in another thread that tixi stated after the CL draw that we wouldn't buying anyone in January. Is this correct? Very short sighted if true. Given that we are challenging on all fronts and picking up regular injuries I would have expected at least one or two quality additions who aren't in CL sides.

With Micah injured again and no doubt craving for first team football (which he would get elsewhere), who could we get as backup? I'd get Seamus Coleman.. Premier League proven and a massive work rate

I think it is unlikely that we will buy in January.
