Should be our 2 top longterm targets. Don't waste time getting lesser options just to fill holes in the short term

Totally agree

We have had short term fixes before Sinclair, Rodwell etc and they don't work.

January is a bad time for buying

while that is true, if we do have cash and no restrictions and its possible to make an offer that they cant refuse and that we wont mind making then it makes sense getting them in january before the rest of europe is behind them

Re: January Targets

i think you will find MDM Caballero and Negredo were all short term fixes and January is the best time to buy. it is a time when teams in the relegation zone get twitchy and look at raising revenue for a new player often sacrificing a young gem for a short term fix. it is the time when teams get knocked out of Europe and find the cannot pay the wages. in short there are great bargains to be had .
But look at us when Sinclair goes and Milner leaves on a free , how many players do we name next year. our youth is very good but there are better at other clubs we need HG inbound.
as for Pogba yeah love him but i expect him still in Italy in 5 years time. and Reus to be sold January and paid for in the summer hopefully to us

It's also the month Chelsea signed Torres for £50m and Liverpool Carroll for £30m.

If clubs are looking at trophies in domestic league or Europe they are not going to sell one of their major players cheaply or if at all

I think you are confusing short term fixes with squad players. None of those three came expecting first team action on a weekly basis and were good second tier purchases. Ageing players often are as they are happy to continue at a top team while sacrificing a guaranteed spot.

The best teams in the world competing on four fronts need this type of player, unfortunately us even more so as our youth team doesn't seem to be getting anywhere near the standards City demand.

Re: January Targets

Main January transfers I can think of

Cabaye - PSG
Carroll - Bottlepool
The racist biter - Bottlepool
Dzeko - Man City
Reyes - Arsenal
Sturridge - Bottlepool
Coutinho - Bottlepool
Us - Pizzaro, Paddy V, Johnson

And our first big spend in 2009.

Baconface bought Evra, Vidic, Zaha and loaned in Larsson.

Wenger brought back Henry twice.

Chelsea have signed Ba and had Queresma on loan.

With enough money you can get players in but will have to overspend.

Re: January Targets

Gary Cahill to Chelsea for £7m was probably the best January deal of recent years. How we could have used him since he is homegrown and top quality.
