Signed a new contract a few weeks ago. It’d cost whoever wanted him a fortune to get him now.Heard he was going to the rags

I am not making any claims for him but I do note that Everton had one of the best defensive records in the Premier League last season. No doubt Moyes plays defensively but Pickford and Branthwaite probably contributed quite a lot to that record. He’s shite
We have 13 CBs:
Gvardiol Dias Khusanov Stones Aké Akanji Reis Bah Simpson-Pusey Doyle Mbete Alleyne and Burns.
Yep last thing we need is another CB …..a proper RB however would be a sensible signing !We have 13 CBs:

Good point, and which started more than 20 games for City`s first team? our first choice three, were out for most of the season, they represent our biggest best and fastest CB`s, they are also out of contract next season and the season after, leaving us with two second choice experienced players. We have 13 CBs:

Branthwaite has just signed a new deal, that trebles his wage, and Everton do need him, Evertons form shoots up when he is on the pitch, if City signed him they would have continuity of experience, he is 6`5 and can use both feet, with City signing 3 right footed CB`s in January we have a need.
So Everton signed him on a new contract, was this to protect an asset, utd had come in with a bid of £50 million, Everton had demanded £80 million, they also had someone lined up to replace him, Grealish and £50 million, Everton get the replacement, they get the lad from Southampton, and they can pay Grealish, everyone is happy.
Gvardiol is already on his way to being one of the best players in Europe. He’s hopefully going to be our left CB for the next 8 years plus.Good point, and which started more than 20 games for City`s first team? our first choice three, were out for most of the season, they represent our biggest best and fastest CB`s, they are also out of contract next season and the season after, leaving us with two second choice experienced players.

Stones ?, but your fantasizing if you think a small slow CB with incredibly poor reaction speeds and lousy awareness, is ever going to be one of the best players in Europe, he could possibly improve some of those traits, but we do need an understudy, because Ake is not going to last forever, and it is always better to bring in experience at CBGvardiol is already on his way to being one of the best players in Europe. We don’t need an £80m injury prone understudy to him.

But we do have a right back, or at least we are paying for a midfielder to play there, and guess what, he is doing a better job than the one everybody wants to bring in, but that is not the reason we did not buy a RB, Lewis is.And in the meantime we still don’t have a right back, which is our biggest problem at the moment.
We have one of the best young left footed CBs in world football right now in last seasons player of the year Gvardiol.
We also have Ake as a left footed CB, although granted he can’t be relied on to be available with any regularity.
I can’t forsee a scenario in which we prioritise buying a third left footed CB for £50m plus Grealish when we already have Dias, Gvardiol, Stones, Ake, Khusanov, Reis and Akanji competing for two places in the team, in a position we already need to trim down via sales/loans to comply with CL/PL squad restrictions.
It’s simply not a priority for this summer.
At all.

We do not need a RB because last season, the RB spot was the strongest part or the defense. If you can not see the failings in your comment, i feel sorry for you, but i will give you a clue, you had to beef up players credentials, without their performances showing talking for themselves.

Gvardiol was our best player last season by a country mile. He’s 6’1” which is just 1” smaller Stones, Dias and Akanji yet he’s much better in the air than Dias and Akanji with much better aerial stats.
He’s already on his way to being one of the best players in Europe. There weren’t many better U23s anywhere last season. The lad is going to be world class.
When Gvardiol and Dias were our CB pairing last season, our goals conceded per game was miles better than any other pairing.
And that bit about being ‘slow…with incredibly poor reaction speeds and lousy awareness’ is just nonsense.
Everyone in football makes the odd mistake.I'm 6ft 1 (and tonnes of fun...) and I don't think I've ever been called small, so it's a strange characterisation. I agree as well that he isn't slow - he made a few weird mistakes last season from LB (that pass inside to no one) but was easily one of our top players. Definitely helped carry Dias
Indeed, and I thought they were weird because it was just the same mistake - something he can rectify. I mentioned it as I presume that's the reason for the other poster's opinions.Everyone in football makes the odd mistake.

Well he certainly made FPL player, he maybe your POTS but Kovacic was mine, i did have Gvadiol as MOTM a couple of times, but that had nothing to do with his goal scoring, those were the games he did not fuck up. you can rave all you want, but opposition managers have all targeted him, and they were not wrong, our left hand side did improve, but that was down to O`Rielly. Feel free to disagree i do think the lad has a future at City, at least until Pep leaves.*defence
That’s also nonsense.
Our left side was by far our strongest last season. Our POTS played either LB or LCB all season with just one slight knock that he missed one game from. The right side of our defence, especially at RB with some howling performances from Walker (Palace away, Brighton away, Bournemouth away), Lewis (Leicester away, Newcastle away, Brighton away, Fulham at home, Paris away) and Nunes (Brighton away, Liverpool away, Paris away… although Nunes did improve from February onwards), was easily the weakest area in our entire team.
