Jason Denayer

If Demichelis goes and Boyata stays then we should all pack it in.

Denayer replacing Boyata though? I'm all for that, although will it be worthwhile Denayer staying for 10 games or less in a season, and will EDS games in his spare time be better than going on loan again?

Denayer has a few dodgy habits he needs to get rid of, such as allowing players to almost run past him chasing a bouncing ball, then flicking it back over their heads into midfield/clear. He can get away with it in Scotland, but if he tried that against Aguero, he'd be sat on his arse watching the ball hit the back of the net in the blink of an eye. Many of the big Prem strikers would also flatten him & fuck off. He needs to get on the ball & deal with it, not take such risks.

But it's only down to a touch of over confidence v lesser players/teams imo. He is a very good defender indeed, excellent 1v1 etc & loves to come out & press or pinch the ball, just like Pellegrini wants his cbs to do. He is miles better than any of our cbs on the ball.

He only falls down compared to our other defenders aerially imo. He's not terrible & he's getting better & better, but he will lose a few which our current 4 would win, & if he is to play for our first team, we have to protect him a bit in that respect.

I think he can cover 3 positions, if the manager has the foresight to realise it. Fullback, cb & def midfield. In that case, he could get plenty of games. If we only use him at cb, then it's debatable whether he would play enough, especially as he usually plays right cb, which of course is Vinny's spot.

Whats Denayers pace like, didnt see him being that fast today.....would be an upgrade on Boyata.

Quicker than most of our back 4 I would say,

I watched the game today,he was a solid 7/10.

His positional play and awareness is excellent as is his technical ability,he has a superb engine and is developing a great physique,he also has decent pace and is committed in the challenge.
His weaknesses are his lack of experience and,as has been said, his ability in the air.....he's by no means poor but he could improve.

Its difficult not to get excited by this lads ability and attitude,i honestly believe, come the start of next season,he could challenge for a starting place here.

On a side note, his mate VVD is no mug either.....

I'm wondering if there is some technical flaw in Van Dijk's game that top coaches can see, & I'm not qualified or smart enough to see. Or perhaps mental issues or something.

Because I've watched him a lot of times &, ok it's a poor league, but he looks great in the air, strong on the ground, quick, great on the ball & intelligent. Covers well etc.
I am struggling to understand why he is playing in Scotland at 23, & why there are a bunch of fucking clowns in the Dutch team, & no Van Dijk, as he looks 3 times better than all of them.

I don't know how much Celtic will be asking for him, but if it's not stupid money, I would sign him purely on potential. The possible rewards are worth the risk. City have people watching Denayer, so we must be aware of VVD.

Like I say, perhaps there is a flaw which I'm missing & it would be exposed at a higher level but if the Turtle has him in the centre of rags defence next season, or Brendan fucking Rodgers snaps him up, & he's brilliant, I won't be impressed with City's judgement at all, as we can see him every week & obviously have a diologue with Celtic, & Deila.

Heavily linked with Arsenal, which will still leave them with no winners in midfield, so not too bad if he goes there.

If he does go there, it probably means that there is some technical flaw in his game that top coaches can see (except Wenger).

No chance imo he's playing in the poorest of poorest leagues Rochdale could make a challenge for a European place it's that shit of a league. Long way to go for Denayer and imo he'll be out on loan again next season hopefully in a better league.

It may be a shit league, but a lot of the kind of defending Denayer has to do, is exactly the same kind of defending he would have to do, playing for City, in the Premier League.

The kind of defending City completely failed to do, v Burnley, Stoke, Middlesborough, Newcastle, etc.

Denayer may not be ready (we will find out pre season & take it from there) but he would have done a fucking sight better job in any of those games, than than the blokes who suposedly are. He deals with stuff like that ten times per game.
