Obviously he had a shocker last night, I won't judge him till a good part of the season has gone and he has played more games. Hope he steps up, I thought he was decent against Madrid when he came on too

Nigel didn't want to leave. He wanted a new contract and the club weren't keen on it. Not sure if it was his wages that gave them pause or what? Personally I think Mancini wanted a better footballer who could add on the offensive end. So the club worked out the trade. Mancini clearly wanted DDR and when that fell through he wanted Martinez. When they both fell through it was probably too late to cancel the whole thing and he settled for Garcia.

Personally I'm praying they sell him in January. I'm not usually so quick judge but I just don't see him working out at all. He;s scarred to death to be on the ball at all. Every time the ball comes to him he gets rid of the ball like it's a time bomb hopelessly spraying the ball anywhere but the intended target. Plus he's slower than molasses in January. He doesn't bring anything offensive to the table and he's poor defensively. I don't think it's going to change.

Clearly was a dreadful individual performance from him and he'll know that. Never had previous prior knowledge of watching Garcia play so I haven't the foggiest if that was just a really poor performance or we've bought a dud. I'm willing to give him a chance though as I've got it on good authority as one of my friends who follows Benfica assures me he's top draw. Still pissed off we sold Nige though.

I wish people would stop feeling the need to blindly defend the club, in the "can't do any wrong sense". Nigel should not have been sold, we should have met his demands and not replaced him with an inferior player, who cost us nearly 15 million. You can say its to early to judge, but typically players will show even slight glimpses, Garcia has literally shown nothing thus far.

No one is "...blindly defending the club..." What people are saying is that Nigel has gone so deal with it, we've moved on. They are also saying Garcia was dog shit against Wigan but it was one game and that it is too early to judge yet.

However, the Championship Manager brigade are out in force once again demanding instant success and other such general fuckwittery.

If that's how you chose to support your club, then fine, but I'm guessing that type of fan probably has supported numerous clubs previously and will move on again the moment City stop being successful.

Nigel did want to leave as his part in the team was being marginalised (hardly started last season). He was offered £100k a week in the summer of 2011 and turned it down as he wanted parity with the top earners, club said no, he said lets discuss next summer. Club stood firm, nige hadn't played much and AC Milan offered him first team football, the clincher though is that only Milan came in for him and he got less than a 100k a week. Basically his head got too big and he ended up paying for it

He wanted first team football, IIRC we offered him a new contract at 120k and he turned it down because Mancini couldn't assure him a place in the team because he is limited as a footballer.

Sell him in January?
Please do wake up, the lad has had an injury and is feeling his way back into the team. Silva looked poor when we bought him, too lightweight for the prem etc as was Yaya who was just branded a mercenary and too past it.
