Mirror report (Ollie Holt) on the game "Javi Garcia was strikingly immobile in the centre of midfield and Dedryck Boyata had precious little impact on proceedings"

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...news/manchester-city-1-crystal-palace-6451230

Bottom rating from both journo and the fans (again)

Opposition fans all want him to play.

We can't all be wrong.

Just Vicente Del Bosque, Pellegrini and Mancini somehow opposing the gargantuan football intellect of Ollie Holt then?

But but but , managers are not always right, journo,s and supporters have much better qualified opinions -:)

The only reason he plays is because he is a defensive midfielder and can be relied on to stay back behind the half way line and give cover to allow other players to go forward more such as Fernan. His problem is that he is far to limited for our style of play and he cannot play in a 2 man mid against good teams.

Del Bosque played him one game after which he was criticised by Spanish media and fans due to his performance.

If Pellegrini rated him so much would we be in the market for another midfielder?

Apart from Bayern Munich of course. Or don't they count as a "good team"?

Yes, actually. We play a midfield two. We need at least four central midfielders for injuries and rotation. Plus it would give us the flexibility to go 4-3-3. Can Garcia be upgraded? Yes. Definitely. The idea that Pellegrini sits up nights crying into his wine over having to pick Garcia is nonsense. If he didn't like him, he would have put Boyata in central defense when we had all those injuries. Occam's Razor and all.

He played in a 2nd team at Bayern and yeah he played in a team that won but there is no doubt he will be in the midfield, at least in a midfield 2 if we played them again.

We have four midfielders, Yaya, Fern, Garcia and Rodwell...

Why do you think he is getting picked ahead of Rodwelll?

1. At least. That is a very important part of the phrase you bolded.

2. Rodwell doesn't seem to be favored by the manager. We can debate that in a Rodwell discussion I suppose, but I will say I have my suspicions as to why he seems to favor Garcia over Rodwell.
