Or the problem is you need someone to hate and cant stand the fact Pelle quite rates him and because he does, it makes your continious rants about him seem rather muppet like. But keep digging if thats your want as whatever you post or whoevers name you conjure up to replace him it will make absolutly no difference whatsoever.

Fact is, at the moment we have one experienced player capable of playing right side CB and that is Garcia.

:))

We have Micah Richards, who can at least run.

There's possibly more to being a centre back than just running.

Micah is rash in the tackle, positionally indisciplined and not great in possession.
The Graeme Souness school of thought that defenders don't need be good on the ball is the reason Graeme Souness didn't sweep the world of management by storm.

We wouldn't be a very good possession team if our stable ball playing base (probably Nastasic's biggest weak point) couldn't play the ball.

You know I think Souness and Carragher might know quite a bit about what makes a decent centre half and they are spot on when they point out that not only is Garcia deficient it impacts on the whole defence covering for him, not least of which the full backs, who dont know whether they can safely move forward leaving Garcia as last man grabbing at opposition players jogging past him.

Pelle has got a lot right and I like him but that doesn't mean he is infallible. If a 5 mill offer came in for Garcia we would sell I would think.

Pelle won't play Richards because he says he is a right back ... has he not noticed that he is playing Garcia out of position? Were you a Savic fan at centre half for City because the manager is always right?

I'd rather be in the Mancini, Del Bosque, Pellegrini camp than the Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher camp.

How many times has Garcia been sent off - seeing as he is constantly bringing down the last man?

Indeed there is,unfortunately though,as hard as he tries, which I applaud him for....... Garcia has none of the attributes you allude to.

In the league so far this season he's second in our pass success percentage and second in winning aerial duels. second in the number of clearances made to. He's the defender who is dribbled past least too and he's made the second highest number of blocks.

Unarguably statistically he is not a bad defender. (All facts from whoscored.com)

Re: Javi Garcia (merged)

I want him to play Sunday and I obviously want him to prove me and the majority wrong, however,i'm convinced we will badly struggle with his lack of pace and agility.

Due to his inadequacies our defensive unit will struggle as he will be rightly targeted as our weakness and it will provide Chelsea with their best opportunity of the win.

I can forsee a heavy defeat unless our attack is at its very best and keeps their players on the backfoot,Milner and Richards are a must for me.

-- 25 Oct 2013 19:22 --

Subjective opinion is fact now?

Raw numbers are fact. You can interpret them how you like and it'll become a qualitative opinion but to override physical evidence of what has actually happened because it doesn't fit with your view definitely does not create "facts".

How many times did Mancini and DB play him at centre half? What has not being sent off have to do with being a good centre half? Vinnie has been sent off and he's in a different league to Garcia.

You're in the Pellegrini camp but I can't think of any other expert that agrees its a good idea and there are a lot that don't.

I'm saying if he pulled people all the time he would get sent off. Outside of the positional debate I'm siding with those managers for valuing his qualities.

There is nothng as blind than a blue with a scapegoat.

We have always had one, if Garcia were to move on, it wouldnt be long until some player or another developed all his supposed failings and more and was subjected to the derision currently thrown at him.
