He plays in the back four against Chelsea and we give them the advantage from the off. I've never been critical of him in the same way some have, I certainly don't think he's shit, wank, useless etc. Against a top quality forward 6 (which chelsea possess) he is going to struggle big time. You can get away with him in there against the likes of West Ham, and I suppose CSKA to an extent. Putting him in against any of the top 4 won't end well.
I was extremely confident of us winning this game when I thought Kompany was back, gotta say I'm not so sure now.

There's possibly more to being a centre back than just running.

Indeed there is,unfortunately though,as hard as he tries,which I applaud him for....... Garcia has none of the attributes you allude to.

In the league so far this season he's second in our pass success percentage and second in winning aerial duels. second in the number of clearances made to. He's the defender who is dribbled past least too and he's made the second highest number of blocks.

Unarguably statistically he is not a bad defender. (All facts from whoscored.com)

I sort of feel sorry for him. I'm sure he hasn't asked to be stuck in the side at CB, where he looks like a fish out of water. Why Pellegrini is insisting on playing him there when he has more suitable alternatives on the bench (Joleon, Dedryck and, now they're nearly fit again, Micah and Martin DeMichelis) is a mystery to me.

He isn't going to win Player of the Season but he can still do a capable job when required.

Haha I wish more people agreed with me. His role in games has repeatedly had positive outcomes. Statistically he's performed well. The back up options are really no better - let's be clear I'm not saying Garcia is a great CB by any means - he's won his place and deserves to keep it.

Whenever someone says anything positive about Garcia they get laughed out of the building, no wonder I'm one of very few left. Every other player I think gets more or less the comments they deserve but Garcia gets the roughest deal by a mile so I''ll stick up for him and the factual evidence says he hasn't let me down yet.

Was Kompany an accident waiting to happen at Villa ! One of the worst pieces of defending I have ever seen ! Tell you what. let's stick Richards in there after all he had a stormer the last time he played there v Norwich at home last game of the season !! Or maybe not.

Seeing as all of our players aren't likely to go the rest of their careers without making a mistake I guess they are all "an accident waiting to happen".
