If we play a more open system and play the full length of the pitch, I imagine Garcia and Barry will look increasingly ill at ease, especially if they have to keep shuffling up and down the park.

The style we will try to play if Pellegrini implements his usual style, energetic and mobile holding midfielders are most useful. Players like Garcia and Barry will really struggle as Gabriel pointed out. The shackles will be off so holding midfielders will be under more pressure to cover the defence. Even Yaya will have to run more. Fernandinho is the perfect type of signing for a team that will be based around fast, energetic football. Seeing us linked with Matuidi the other day (even if it isn't true), he is a more suitable defensive midfielder than Garcia or Barry. He's like De Jong on drugs.

The sooner him and Kolarov are sold the better.

Both cost us a fortune, both are on excellent contracts and both contribute next to fuck all.

They could do a job for a lower to mid table team, certainly not for us,both rank amongst our worst, pound for pound, purchases.

Garcia was sold after just 6 weeks Pellegrini took over at Real Madrid. I think Mr Pellegrini will make it faster this time though. ;)

No, he was bought because Mancini would rather have gone into last season with him than with no-one, but he's taking up a valuable squad place whilst bringing nothing special in particular to the team. Stupid purchase, cut out losses and chalk it up to experience.

but we will play at most two holding midfielders - first choice Fernandinho and Yaya with Rodwell & Barry in reserve - when does he get a game? Milner would do a better job anyway.

Barry is in the last year or two of his time at City and will only go downhill. Garcia 'should' only get better. As others have said, he should get one more season and then if he isn't significantly better, he's gone ......or as Rammy so eloquently puts is..."he's wank"

Pelli is a manager who gets the best out of everyone. A season is a very long time in football (remember Amr Zaki being hot property?) - I wouldn't write off anybody.
Well, he sold Javi Garcia in his first and only season in Real Madrid.

Managers don't sell players at Madrid. They don't buy them either really.

Anyone else still think he can prove to be an important member of the team?

He may not have had the best opening season but it takes time to adjust to the speed of the PL, especially as he is rather slow, not to mention his season was disrupted by injuries.

I don't like the assumption on this board that you have to have pace to be a good defensive midfielder, look at Javi Martinez at Bayern. All you need is two other mobile midfielders near you, Javi's job should mainly be defending and clearing up if the midfield get caught.

I personally believe that a midfield three of:

-----------Garcia-------------
Yaya---------------Fernandinho

Would be extremely solid and do very well, especially in European away games and harder PL games.

Spain clearly rate him highly, and we should at least give him a second season to prove his worth. Lets hope he does.

He's dogshit and Spain clearly don't rate him.

I continue to be amazed at the lack of support offered by some fans for a new player, playing in a new league, having moved to a new country with new team mates and a new manager.

This player hasn't even played a season of football for us. If we choose to sell him then fair enough, until then, offer our player some support please. The negativity here is, to my eyes, a pathetic indictment of fans who have forgotten what it is to be a blue.

Sorry mate. You appear to be mistaking this football forum for a football stadium.

Let me clarify the difference. One is a place where football is played and football fans go along to support. The other is a place where football is discussed.

I love your comical 'forgotten what it's like to be blue' lunge for the moral high ground, too ;-)

Thanks Dave, your comments are often supportive of the players so it's nice that you offer the same support to me.

Another tedious thread in the same ilk as the Kolorov one

Tedious?? Take the blue tints off pal..Garcia and Kolarov are fucking awful.

Extremely tedious, the slagging off of players by some on this forum is quite simply pathetic

Good enough to be in a squad challenging for titles and cups, they both played their part
