You have a point if you pair him with Barry in a DM 2. You do not have a point in a general sense.
For example: Who was our best player against Dortmund at home (paired with YaYa) till he was injured on 34 mins? Prior to his injury we defended well against Dortmund. After he went off injured we stank the place out and they ran through us.
He can now play with Fernandino or Ya Ya in a DM 2 or with Ya Ya and Fernandiniho in a DM 3.
He also wouldn't be picked for the Spanish squad if he was crap.
 
He was really good in a 433, between Milner and Rodwell against Chelsea at home. The system was what was lacking last season - Yaya can't really play in a midfield 2, either. Towards the end of the season, especially, we were getting overrun.

He gets called up for Spain because their defense is that shit in depth that they have few options imo. He's fourth choice in his preferred position. Not played much either so this call up stuff is just that, called up but nothing else. Use that as justification when he features more.

Dortmund were the better team, period. Garcia had nothing to do with their dominance, yet simply worked harder and pressed us like a fat kid on a doughnut.

He can't play 2 man with Yaya because Yaya has to carry him. Yaya is a hard man to partner and you have to be busy around him to clean up the runs Yaya will let go passed him (yayas biggest fault).

Rodwell, Milner and Barry all start ahead of him. Not good enough for a 18m player on 80k a week, utility players shouldn't cost that much, fuck him off now. Best bet for all concerned.

But why would Txiki keep him if Pellegrini won't play him? It's just bloating our payroll now that we have Fernandinho.

I'll be more than surprised if Garcia survives the close season here ... it's hardly as if he's gonna get many games at City next season , is it ??

tbh i agree with this, i think he's become something of a whipping boy on here, his performances really havent been that bad and he's improved every game, good player and i am sure Pellegrini will see that
 
He may be half decent in the air but I've seen milk turn quicker. In that position you need more to your game than stopping the opposition and the lad just doesn't have it.

He can't pick a pass like Alonso can and that is why he's nowhere near starting regularly for the national side. I lost count how many times last season he played the safe pass, went sideways or backwards.

It may be confidence and I hope he proves me wrong but he looks like an expensive mistake and is certainly no upgrade on NDJ.

he has looked very unsure of himself since he got here... at times on CityTV videos he almost looks lonely and i've found myself almost feeling sorry for him.

i feel a lot of us have been very harsh on him. some performances have warranted this critiscm but pretty much all of our players weren't at the races at all this season.
some performances for me were very promising.

i reckon when he has fully settled into the squad it'll help with his confidence and as a result will help with the level of his performances.

Ok, so who should we drop to shoehorn him into the team? Or which of our current midfielders is he an improvement on?
 
Nobody gets dropped for him.
The change in formation allows us to utilize him and two other midfielders who can do effectively the work going forwards whilst he shields the defence.

I really do believe, a full pre-season and a extended run of games and we can at least see what he is made of.
He might never make it and could well be sold but I for one really want to see him given a chance.
