Jerome Boateng (Merged)

I know though that those lists from Kicker are regarded as rubbish by many German football fans.

Apart from that - the list only contains "natural" CBs, but Boateng not only played as a CB, but most of the time as a RB, sometimes even LB.

As a follower of the Bundesliga, I would have completely changed the ranking. Especially the positions of Boateng, Naldo, Hummels, Subotic and Hoewedes. They are all ranked too low.

Once I heard that this deal is in its latter stages I had a check up on Boateng. I don't watch German football, or much European football to be honest, I like the Champions League and will watch La Liga occasionally but that's only really to admire Messi and Xavi.

Anyway, the stats that made me smile most were age; 21 and height; 6 foot 3 and 1/2 inches. Excellent I thought. If he's as good as people on here are saying and he's physically suited to the Premiership and young this could be a great signing.

They are certainly not rubbish. And they rate all games by the players, while fans naturally only watch some games from different players. The list does not only contain CBs, but all defenders, just click the link. Some here might have watched the Bayern game against Man U, the ratings for each player is there as well, and I broadly agree with the ratings given.

The special thing about Boateng is his versatility (CB, RB, DM, LB in this order), and the combination of physical strengths along with technical strenghts. He can be a very elegant player, and yet he has the body of a "monster".

"kicker-Rangliste: Innenverteidiger
Weltklasse
keiner"

Innenverteidiger means Centreback! Their ratings are usually very harsh, last season they even gave players a 6 (= 1) when they dived, even if they played very well in that game. Those rankinga are very subjective, as subjective as the fans' views. As I said, that's why many people don't take them seriously. And tbh, I can't really disagree with them. They also have their favourites and players they don't really like, just like fans...Sometimes they show a certain trend, where most of the people can agree, but don't take them too seriously.

MEN saying that the deal is in place and he will join us on July 1st for £11 million on £85k pw!

The end piece of the article says that Mancinis next target is Marek Hamsik who is valued at £25 million!

£85k a week!?!? We really need to sort our wage sturcture out. There is no way he was earning anywhere near that at Hamburg

If Hamsik is what he's cracked up to be then that will be another good move

There are a number of factors why we would have to pay him this amount though.

The problem is when you pay some players £150k pw any players who come in also want a good wage.

You also have to take into account who the competition is and in this case Bayern also wanted him who may find themselves in the Champions League final this season so we would have had to pay Boateng considerably more than they were going to pay him!

It is also reported that we pay the likes of Richards and Ireland over £50k pw and neither of them are guaranteed starters so anyone who joins us will at least want parity with those players!
